I would guess I got the JTR because I wanted a new pickup truck. Bed and towing duties. Love the look and it's practical. With 35s it has a nice not to small look but isn't a modern day full sizer either. Top off, doors off and windscreen down capable? Sealed the deal, probably won't be much riding around on the MC this summer!

Solid both for me. I wanted the convenience of the bed and something better for towing gravel sand and my boat!

I am on this forum daily and I wanted to get a sense of what 'aspect' of the JT is most important to you. I am only giving you TWO choices to comment on, either the fact that it's a Jeep with a bed or because you plan to tow with it? You cannot comment on both, you must choose only one feature to keep.

Please save unrelated chatter for another thread. Personally, I wanted a "Wrangler with a bed' for the convenience of hauling 'stuff' as opposed to any towing capability. In the 15 months I've owned the JT, the bed has just made my life easier!

Thanks!
For me it was the payload/towing. The JL Wrangler is useless. 850 lbs. of payload with a family of five inside means that you've got 100 lbs. remaining, which means that your legal trailer weight is capped at 1,000 to 1,500 lbs. It's a useless vehicle for jobs/tasks/trailering. I wanted a Jeep but needed more capacity.

Ill play... between the two. Jeep with a bed!

I put a hard trifold on it and use it all the time, lowes, Home Depot, groceries..... my last rig was a jku with a trailer that made it truck “like” and I was able to do anything I might have used a truck for.... if I planned and brought the trailer.

Still have the jku and trailer... proof is ive yet to pull the trailer with the jt.

solar panels fit in the bed of the gladiator with the tailgate down thus making it a justifiable purchase and enhancing the write offs I’m allowed with it

It's a JLU with a built in trailer.

Bed only. I have the max tow but for other reasons.

I also wanted a sporty convertible :) This checks all the boxes, even if sporty is a different kind.

Because of the bed, it offered by best of the Wrangler and truck (bed) world! Towing was a 3rd reason but is a great reason on its own! It really is the triple threat of the Jeep world!

I just wanted the space and just like it better than the Wrangler. I will never tow anything with my Glad. But my boat also weighs 15,000 pounds.

Both. I’m not hauling concrete or trying to pull a 55’ trailer. Gobi Wan pulls our 19’ 3,400 pound camper just fine. It’s so much easier to put the kayaks in the bed instead of on the roof in J cradles on the 17 JKU We traded. Bought it for camping, fishing, kayaking, and having fun. Love to watch the hard core go mudding and rock crawling, but you don’t have to either to have fun in aJeep.

The bed,

I wanted a truck with a manual. This was the best of the 2 options available!

Bed fo sho. Manual towing ain't that great but it does the job for our scout trailer. Love having a lined bed i can beat the hell out of and still look good. Throw my tonneau cover on there and tons of lockable storage. Traded my Silverado in on this. Not as big a bed but I'm a weekend warrior so it does all I need.

I'll bite, for starters... I went to Jeep 30 years ago for straight axles number one. Starting with my MJ as a truck "Yes I have a truck no I won't help you move" :giggle:
Next XJ, then another MJ for a trailer project, 2 XJ parts donors then my 90XJ replacement. Then my LJ a Jeep D.D. now my JT is my daily driver and towing.... 16 pontoon boat, 10 ft pond prowler, 5Ă—8 trailer for utility and my 4 wheeler, last but not least my 16ft Scamp travel trailer that I towed with LJ. So mainly towing otherwise, I'm not trying to pull a 5k plus trailers as the norm. Is it a great tow vehicle not so much for heavy loads, but for what I'm towing sufficient.
IMHO: Straight axles, less stuff to go wrong and wear out.

Yep I think of this as my family friendly motorcycle, everything is off as much as possible.

Funniest was my coworker who rides said the windshield down wasn't safe... I was like where does that leave your bike? lol

Mostly Bed, but towing too. Wanted something for kayaks, house projects, junk etc and to tow a camper for trips. Camper is small though, plenty for just two of us and a dog so I saw no need for a full size truck.
