Because I have no use for an oversized “full size” truck my zr2 was 3 years old and the v6 diesel put out more hp and tq stock then my duramax did tuned.
the whole thing with making trucks bigger and bigger makes no sense to me.. I can haul shit in the bed or hook my 30 foot Tt to it and it does the job. I bought it cuz it was an awesome replacement for my zr2… or at least it will be when I do the lift and shocks…. My multimatics on the zr2 were amazing.

Towing, with the max tow package this thing supposedly tows the most out of any midsized truck. I actually was shopping it against an f150, but didn't need or want that much truck.

Short answer... YES!!!

Besides, the thing is just f*ckin' cool as sh*t ? ? ?

I wanted a pick-em-up truck that could also tow a good amount. Initially, it was the hauling capability of having the bed but, then, after my Dad passed away, I bought a travel trailer. So, it handles both duties equally with ease.

Bed. I wanted a Jeep but needed a pickup. This scratches both itches…
That’s my take. And this size is perfect for me. I always wanted a Wrangler Unlimited, but need a truck bed several times a year. When I saw the camouflaged Gladiator being test driven early on in it’s development cycle, it started a little bit of a vehicle obsession that culminated in me being able to get one a couple months ago. I still look at it and smile. :)

A Jeep with a bed says it all! I had to sell my '97 TJ, and along with that, i have to sell my '87 Dakota - so i will be needing a pickup. i wanted the solid front axle for plowing snow and I'm also under a 4-year contract with Roots to Rivers, planting native trees along rivers and tributaries and floodplains in NJ. i was hoping Jeep would make a Gladiator with a 6' bed and rather than the full backseat, have only an extra cab with room for tools or a suitcase. When i get a yard of mulch or topsoil, im thinking i will lose a quarter of the load because the bucket will be longer than the bed - even cati corner.

Both. 18' off road trailer @ 4k lbs, and a couple Coleman minibikes, with the RTT now to. 5.13 gearing helps immensely.

Towing. I have a 20 ft boat that weighs a bit over 4,000lbs and always wanted a Wrangler but it’s towing caps out at 3500lbs. When I learned the Max Tow could do 7600lbs that sealed the deal. I also have a Ram 2500 for my serious towing needs.

The bed. I don’t tow anything anymore.
I actually just wanted a truck. As I looked at them all, I realized I could do everything I wanted with a gladiator and get the bonus of having a Jeep. I absolutely love it!

This^^^
I have an F250 7.3 for my heavy lifting, but I leave it hooked to my trailer most of the time. Needed (wanted) a mid sized truck for general hauling, driving. And its a Jeep.

Because of the bed, totally. I have a Ford F-350 to tow my trailers with.

THE BED. Love my JL-Camino. I've always had a jeep or scout and dreamed of owning a Brute conversion forever. I waited patiently (or not) for the gladiator to come out. Then saw the price tag...
This might be the first time in my life I have a vehicle that I can't think of anything else I would rather have. I had a nice JL and sold it to buy my scout II. Sold the scout to buy the Gladiator.
I love my scout and miss it, but it sure is nice having a bed and AC.
