Around my area you can get biodiesel for almost a $1 cheaper than diesel #2 that everyone else carries. If I can use the biodiesel and save a $1 per gallon that would be great. But not sure if there are any side effects of using the biodiesel?

If you go to biodiesel and stay on it, then you will only have to worry about changing out fuel filter(s) early a couple of times.

If you switch back and forth often, you'll find yourself changing out fuel filters often.

Biodiesel will break loose any crud in the fuel system and plug up the filter(s) faster.

As long as it is not more than B15, I would run it all the time. Up to B20 may be okay, since it is a newer vehicle.

76 near me sells R95 that meets #2 spec. It is renewable and is $0.80-$1.00 cheaper.

Been using it exclusively in my gladiator with no ill effects. Also the engine seems quieter with the R95 vs #2 from chevron. Kinda weird how you can tell.

Also, if you're fairly mechanical and can source the needed materials, you can build your own "still" and make your own biodiesel.

Couldn't tell you what the costs would be now, but when I did it in mid 2000's I got the cost to under $1.00 a gallon.

There are instructions all over the web, some free, some for a fee, on how to build it and the mixture rates and process times.

The biodiesel around me is B20. I just picked up my new 22 diesel a couple days ago and just about to fill it up for the first time. But based off the replies it may be easier to stick with #2 since more places have that than B20.

Since it's new, start with the biodiesel and stick with it. The fuel system will be better lubricated and quieter.

I used the B20 and got considerably lower fuel mileage. I went back to regular diesel and am now getting the same fuel mileage. 16. Anyone else see this conflict? Of course in CA we have crappy fuel.

Used biodiesel once and got significantly lower fuel mileage. Haven't used it since. And when I travel to Cali. Depending on how far I have to go. I take to 5 galling Jerry cans.

Since I haven't seen it mentioned yet. In the manual it tells you not to use anything higher than B20 and if you do you need to change your fuel filters more frequently as mentioned.
