diff time- can you confirm this is correct?

DO NOT USE BRAKE CLEANER! Brake cleaner WILL degrade the plastic on the locker sensor! You will end up replacing the locker sensor.

75w90 is find. I use it. Mobil 1 is what I use.

any way to clean out the housing? Just wipe out with a lint free cloth(Shop towels?) id like to make sure there no metal fuzz lingering.
If i covered up the sensor with a ziplock and then sprayed would that work? I have to pop it off to clean that magnet there(post above).

I wipe out the housing with lint free rags. You can use electrical cleaner spray.

Inspect your locker sensor for oil intrusion, just one small Torx screw holds it in. Pull it off the sensor magnet and clean the magnet off. If you forget the cleaning the magnet, the responsiveness of engaging and disengaging your locker will slow down and eventually stop working.

That's something I need to watch for now with the JTMX I have.
It used to be just a simple LSD, nothing much to see or do.
I doubt I'll ever USE the locker, but it's there, should take care of it.

You should make that a sticky in the axle/differential area.
I bet the sensor inspection you posted about in another thread, as well as this bit, gets overlooked by some.

Another reason to PULL THAT COVER with each fluid change (my opinion based on 5 decades of this stuff - if you don't want to, well, it's your truck, not mine)

LINT FREE.
I made a scraper out of a milk jug to save my fingers. I've been jammed bad by slivers in the bottom using my bare hands. Slivers of steel don't feel good and are risky with dirty oily hands.
I inspect what comes out as I scrape the bottom of the housing dragging out remaining lube and any crud that didn't get to a magnet (or is non-ferrous)

Mobil 1 is what I use.

Another good brand with a good rep and test results.

Wouldn’t using brake cleaner be ok if you stay away from the electrical bits? I’ve only ever used brake cleaner on my diffs and not sprayed the sensor or harness and been ok ..so far. I’ve also potted my sensors and are still the original ones (21 JTR)

Keep it away from wires, SEALS, and the other electric bits and you'd be ok. It's nasty on plastic and rubber, seals, wires, and so on.
The potting will depend on what exactly is used. I've tried to take apart potted electronic parts of the past (voltage regulators and so on) and brake cleaner doesn't even phase that early stuff. Today's parts? I can't say.........

Im over 20k so its time to change the fluids in the front and rear diff.
I have a 23 rubicon The window sticker say i have tru- lock front and rear.
Im looking at the ARB diff covers for the m210/220 (are these pretty decent? They look beefy as hell, bonus -drainplug!) Yes, they are excellent. BONUS, Dipstick!
from reading this forum and some youtube it looks like i need 75/90 fluid? I have never towed, dont plan to. MAy off road in the future once im comfortable with my build. SO i dont need the 75/140...plus it bets below zero here so yeah. Follow the owners manual and buy the best if you can.

anything i missed ? Besides the can of parts cleaner to spray off the gears i mean lol. Don't need to spray anything. If you want to spray, use WD40. Check for shiny bits and feel the fluid with your fingers for solid particles. Clean the diff housing checking for particles in it.

I was thinking more of the cleaning of the magnets for the current models.

I'd hope they used the different sensor in 2025s since it has been available for a while now.

When I clean those things out, I want to get everything out I can.

Imagine pulling a cover, scraping out the bottom of the differential housing and having this drop out into the drain pan.......

GM 10 and 12 bolt rear ends were famous for the bolt that holds the cross pin backing out, or breaking. Letting the cross pin to came out and lock up the diff.

Yeah, and when you wanted them to come out, they weren't always easy.
I remember those bolts with the long stem that went through the spider gear pin.

If that shaft worked loose - destruction often followed.

can i use electric parts cleaner instead of brake parts cleaner? Should be safe to just let loose with that ?

I replaced a few of those rear ends. Either a hole in the diff cover, or the pin wedged inside the housing.
