Dimmer wheel beside dash light dimmer wheel, wtf is it for?

Hilarious responses and thanks for the manual snapshot! I must have glazed over the last half of that. Agree with ‘must be the most useless thing on the whole truck’ bwahaha, I am so underwhelmed I forgot to even go check. Maybe tomorrow when I remember again...if I remember again.

About as useless as the bed lights, why the hell did FCA think my feet need light but to unload my bed I don’t need to see unless I keep my door open or hit the fob ugh that switch would have been better served as the truck bed light on off switch. Yes I know there’s a switch for bed light been over it a ton already BUT try doing anything without having to leave a door open

I also have the bed light switch on the dash. Now that it is getting darker earlier the problem is there should be a way of turning them on from the bed. My 2019 ram had the same setup except you just pushed on the lens and it clicked and the bed lights came on!! Here is a quote from the Gladiator manual Pg 62 "If the vehicle speed is 0 mph these lights can also be turned on by using the switch located inside the pickup box, on the lower part of the bed light lens". WTF!! Not on mine!! time for another trip to the dealer.

Mine also does not do a damn thing - trust me, I have checked it: in the dark, various light configurations, all lights on, etc., etc. No dice, no functionality - zip.

Update/I stand corrected - this AM, whilst still in the VERY DARK, I played with this dial one more time and noticed a VERY dim light just above the foot area/brake pedal that did in fact dim/go out as I played with the dial. Same area in the passenger's seat, as well. Honestly, the light is SO DAMN DIM it makes absolutely no sense to even have it. I've had the truck for 11 months now and was only today able to identify this lighting. What a waste -

Update/I stand corrected - this AM, whilst still in the VERY DARK, I played with this dial one more time and noticed a VERY dim light just above the foot area/brake pedal that did in fact dim/go out as I played with the dial. Same area in the passenger's seat, as well. Honestly, the light is SO DAMN DIM it makes absolutely no sense to even have it. I've had the truck for 11 months now and was only today able to identify this lighting. What a waste -

wonder if different bulbs would improve the illumination...

Update #2 observed yesterday - apologies if others have discovered this, but I didn't see such a posting in reviewing this topic:
Last night, I turned down the navigation using the right dimmer control - the one for dimming the overall instrument panel. I rolled it down past the 'max' setting, whereby you roll it down one 'notch' and feel it go below the maximum setting; you can then dim it further down from there. It was only after rolling it down past this 'notch' that I noticed the footlights come on. At the max setting, they aren't illuminated whilst the vehicle is on; once I turned it down, the footlights illuminated. It was only then that the left wheel became usable - the footlights would dim once activated. So in summary - on my Overland, if I dim the overall instrument panel and navigation with the right wheel, the footlights are then activated and dimmable using the left. The cupholder lights were unaffected.

This 100%. I've had my Overland for a week now and I have to say the "foot", "cup holder", and "door handle" lighting is so piss weak had I not been searching for an answer as to what the dimmer did I would have never noticed them.

The other caveat is that you have to have the right dimmer in the adjust range (not full and not full + overhead lighting) to have this left dimmer become operable.

I have to say - as 1st time Jeep owner disappointed in the effort I had to take to find out the answer (thanks everyone here) and for the fact that the LEDs are so piss weak on the lumens.

They’re SMD LEDs, not incandescent lamps. Changing them isn’t practical.

The cupholder lights were unaffected.

The cupholder lights are on the instrument dimmer circuit.

Yeah no. Mute button still displays the audio selection. The off button turns off the display. I want the off button to turn off the audio completely instead of displaying "Mute" etc ...

Which screen do you have? On 7.0 and 8.4", the power button in the middle of the volume knob turns everything off. And there's the screen off button that just turns the screen off. Then there's the mute button that just turns the audio off.
