Do fogs function as cornering lights?

We have a "Jeep" Compass at work, and the fog lights come on when turning. I was curious if the Wrangler / Gladiator does the same. Maybe there's a way to use the Tazer to set it up? Thanks!

Uhhh…nope……. My fogs are ON or OFF. And they only come on with the low beams.
They won’t come on with the high beams because that’s illegal (at least, in PA).

You can make the fogs stay on while the high beams are on with a Tazer but I’ve never seen anything about them coming on while turning. My wife’s Bronco Sport has that function though.

My son used to have a Renegade that did that too. It's a nice feature but no, the JL's and JT's don't have that.

I have seen people mount lights to the knuckles of their axles with specific mounts so the lights turn when you turn the wheel. You would probably have to manually turn on the lights or wire them up to come on with the fog lights.

Yep, and the Bronquito and big boy also flip their LED rings/heads off depending on which direction you're turning, too. Its a tad odd to see in the rearview if you're ahead of one.

I think its Baja Designs that has actuator-equipped aux lights but i don't know if they can be synced to the steering wheel sensor or not.

This has been a feature on some cars for decades, but I don’t know about the compass. The Gladiator doesn’t do this.

This is a standard feature on the smaller Fiat based jeep. I had a loaner of the Renegade and it did this.

It's more common on higher trim CARS as they're already lower to the ground, so the idea is to both increase visibility when turning so you can see and be seen.

GM has been doing this for decades on the H-body like the grand prix and bonneville from the 90s-2000s. Had it on my '95 grand prix (base 4 door, man I miss that bench seat), and I knew someone with a '00 park ave (supercharged) that also had it. Some ford sedans had it, and I'm sure others did too.

IIRC it was mostly due to visibility. And no, you don't need it. besides, the fog lights illuminate the ditch and side plenty if they're OEM, even better than that old design did or the renegade does. Just leave your fogs on.

Or leave them off. The OE LED headlights put out more light in a better pattern than all the headlights I've owned before combined. I almost never need the fogs, and when I do turn them on it's mostly when I've been caught out on the trail at night and just need maximum light output. I even removed the giant ass spot lights the previous owner put on because I just didn't need them.

I've seen this feature active on some Ram trucks. Thought it was a malfunction at first but it was normal.

Or leave them off. The OE LED headlights put out more light in a better pattern than all the headlights I've owned before combined. I almost never need the fogs, and when I do turn them on it's mostly when I've been caught out on the trail at night and just need maximum light output. Debatable, my 2008 Scion tC had projector housings, my 21 willys has reflector lights...my tC had WAY better output for a $21k vehicle. But maybe you too have the OEM LEDS in your JT, which would make sense based on your statement.

I even upgraded to HIDs in my tC (OEM projectors) and never got flashed. But My bugeye wrx also has reflector housings and when people swap LEDs or HIDs into that style, I still flash them due to glare (you cannot fully correct the cutoff of reflectors when using LEDs/HIDs without reducing functional output), same with jeeps using reflector housings. There's a guy in my town who swapped LEDs into their base Sport, fucking blinding at night and crazy glare during the day.

Ram's do it as well. It's not an electrical issue. It actually works rather nicely.

The Compass absolutely does do it. Rams do it as well. It's by design to illuminate the path you're turning. I was simply curious if the JT does this, since it's a rather nice feature. Apparently the answer is, no. Not a deal breaker, but after driving the Compass last night, it made me curious.
