I was carrying first aid and trauma gear before we got into wheeling. After getting around adventure parks and rural Texas trails, I couldn’t imagine not being capable of being our own first responders.

in addition to first aid gear, I carry trauma gear such as tourniquets, hemostatic gauze, chest seals and nasopharyngeal airways. And yes, my wife, our 14yo son and myself are trained with all this gear in addition to CPR/AED. I hope we never need any of this gear buT we’re prepared if we do.

I carry a similar setup but in a hardshell waterproof case. The only thing I wish I still had access to was IV's, extend, and saline. Funny thing is it's hard to get a set of IV's but you can just go buy a FAST ONE.

I'm a construction superintendent and stay CPR/AED certified. I keep 2 kits in my Gladiator at all times: Class B and Blood Borne Pathogen.

I've never had to use either outside of work. On the jobsite is a different story.

As I understand it, in Texas where I live, it’s illegal to do anything that creates a hole such as decompression needle, IV etc.

I dont know if I would be giving Hextend, NS is another issue that can be addressed with other interventions. Carrying basic first aid supplies, oral rehydration salts, SAM splints, and cooling supplies will cover most emergencies.

I carry the above mentioned kit but I add a needle decompression kit.

Needle decomp is illegal in Texas. Felony I think.

Another angle on this. I’m an old guy taking blood thinners. A cut or gash can get out of hand real quick. Gauze, bandaids, ace bandage for compression a must.
Consider a tourniquet as well.

I add this because I've had two pneumothorax, one that progressed to a tension.

I figure what would I want in the event of a rollover and worried about blunt trauma to the chest. Regardless of the law, if someone shows tension pathology, they are getting a needle.

I do, but also carry a Life Flight membership card. Seen to many people that had to be airlifted when we were ATVers, and heard about crazy high bills that insurance does not cover.

Yep! I consider what I have as Basic First Aid Plus kit. The plus being a tourniquet, hemostatic gauze, some tegaderm, and meds (OTC and prescribed).

Not as big a deal as yours, I bet, but I'm on aspirin daily and get frequent nosebleeds........... and they last. Makes me wonder about a real wound.

Not commenting on anyone here, but the sad thing is that too many people don't know how a tourniquet needs to be used and end up blocking only the veins, not realizing the supply is deeper down. They don't apply correctly or tightly enough.
Not that I would or could - do it right, but I know enough maybe to stay out of trouble.
