Does a few of the things Tazer does, and some of what JSCAN or AlfaOBD can do with a handful of other things.

Does the Tazer have the best/most options?

I love mine. The GPS speedometer calibrate works great. It doesn't do as much as the Tazer, but I don't need a lot of that. You use the ECRI then remove it. The Tazer needs to be left connected if you want to use all of the extra features. I have had the Tazer not go to sleep on my wife's Wrangler and kill the battery.

Keep in mind, I'm not a Tazer user, however, I have researched their site and "abilities".
There are differences, such as Tazer seems to require you to enter the tire size while this other device will do that for you - I believe...... but then it's no big deal to enter the tire size through Tazer - it's just a matter of you picking the right size after driving and comparing GPS speed against speedometer reading (I use odometer, but whatever)
Tazer has more live abilities, a larger feature set, IMO.

IF I were to decide that my home-made circuits, other devices, and using JSCAN, can't fill my desires for what I want to do - I would go tazer - that's my personal take, as the feature set is huge.
Not only can it fill needs like tire sizes, gear changes, changing settings to add passive entry and other adjustments that software can do - the list of live functions for things you may want is large.

I find every need I have to be filled with JSCAN and other hardware, that's me, and check the key word - "need". For wants - at this point I don't have any wants that Tazer can do but that doesn't mean others won't.
I don't care about some of the other stuff, and that's all it comes down to.
But again, if I did - Tazer would be my direction.
The reasons beyond feature set is = peer level support, "vendor support" - contact them and they respond, there are so many people using it all over the Jeep world if you can't get a question answered, there is no answer (yet).

Me? I'm more of an explorer, a DIY person who looks for home-brew solutions, with few wants the Jeep doesn't already do - and, I'm working on more important things at this point - shocks and so on so I'm not filling wants yet in that area.

Just wanting to be fair.

That's another good point of view.
For the live functions, Tazer must be left in place.
But for tire size, you can change that setting in the software and remove Tazer if I recall correctly. It's like JSCAN in that tire size is part of the configuration of the truck.
Tazer live functions bypass the configuration of the Jeep and watches certain things on the bus and when it sees a certain thing, it triggers another action, so for live, like backup camera on on a turn signal event - tazer watches that turn signal and when it comes on, it triggers the backup camera.

Tazer users can feel free to correct my thinking that for TIRE SIZE - if you go from stock 32's for example to a 35, you can use Tazer to change that configuration in the BCM and then remove Tazer?

Yes, that's what I did on my wife's. I disconnected the Tazer, but left the tire size calibration. It works fine without it connected. She actually hated the back-up camera coming on when using the blinker. The screen was too bright at night when it would change to the camera.
On a second note. Once I took the Tazer off...... no more dead battery. I will say that she works from home. So her Jeep sits in the garage all week. We drive hers on the weekend and give mine a break.

It probably does, however, a lot of people, well some people at least, appear to be having the Tazer cause weird things. That is why I inquired about this when I saw it.

Had the same thing happen. It worked great with no problems with doors on for months. Took doors off, something did not go to sleep and battery dead. Charged battery, removed Tazer and I have had no problems for about 6 months now. Too bad because I did like some of the features, but afraid to drain my battery again.

Same...I know it was the Tazer because I didn't replace the batteries. I was able to charge them back up. It's been about a year and those batteries are still going.

That's the reason that I gave the ECRI a try on my Gladiator. I have been considering buying another ECRI VIN unlock for my wife's and selling the Tazer since we don't really use all the features.

Yeah I think I'd like to sell mine too, but I'm unsure if you can unmarry the Tazer and still keep the new tire size information stored. Thus, I have it sitting on my desk. LOL

I leave the Tazer installed. No issues with anything.

If you just remove it, the changed settings are retained. If you unmarry it, the settings are returned to the state they were in when it was married.

It has to be unmarried to use it in another vehicle. It possibly may also need a reset code to use it in another vehicle.

Jscan is a less expensive option for just making changes, if you don't want any of the Tazer 'live' functions.
