Door sill guard alternatives?

I'm looking for means to protect my door sill and the available options (see photo), especially for the rear, don't cover very much. I have a 6yr old who uses the every inch of the rear door entrance and I'd like to protect it with something. I considered Line-X, but my bed is pretty slick with that and I'd want more grip if possible. I also considered grip tape, but I think I'd make a mess of it and it would look terrible.

Anyone have any solutions they've come up with?

I thought about buying a length of textured vinyl and putting that in the door jam. Would look decent I think and wouldn’t mark up the clear coat.

With my kids, I find that the most often impacted area is the exterior suface of the body below the door. I used XPel clear film to cover it and wrap around the top edge of the sills a little bit. The rest doesn't much matter to me because I can't see it with the doors closed. Also I had door seal leaking problems on my JK with the Mopar Sill Guards, so I definitely didn't want anything that covered the door seal contact area.

I use the Rugged Ridge guards and am very happy with them. Although I see what you mean about very limited coverage for the rear. I know you can buy the Rugged Ridge as a 'front only set', so perhaps buy two front sets and custom cut the second pair for longer coverage in the rear.

I have these and like them a lot. Added them within a week of owning jeep. Very good

I used a 6" width of 3M Scotchgard PPF, and wrapped it from the door sill so it covers the body under the door as well. It has held up well to use. I do need to redo the driver's door, the edge of the door sill/body has worn quite a bit. I was worried about anything rougher/thicker tearing up the door seal.

I also did door handle cup guards from Lamin-X (wife's rings and nails hitting the paint) in addition to their bug guard on the leading 10" of the hood. Has saved me from a number of rock chips that ended up damaging the windshield but not my paint.

I would go with the safety grit tape for the rear. I used it on my JK tailgate top, looked the same after 3 years when I traded it in, Lowes carries it, easy to cut to fit.
I used the rugged ridge ones on both my gladiators, but my kiddos are 16 and 17, so rarely ride in the back.

I would suggest that you not use any guard that contacts your door gasket. My buddy has ones from Quadrajunk and they leak dust from the gaps they create and I assume water should you go that deep.

BTW- if you decide to go with the grip-tape solution check out eBay and Amazon as they carry skateboard grip tape in literally every color in the rainbow and a zillion (give or take) designs. I used this on my RZR's rock kickers and it blended in perfectly and is very durable. The 'normal' size is - 9ish x 33ish, so one deck should do both sides of the rear. But larger sizes are available.

I think a combination of the molar guards along with some PPF is the best solution. I also agree with the poster mentioning the area on the outside of the jeep, just below the door sill take a pretty bad beating. The PPF will help there immensely.

Although my preference is green forested mountains, most of my time off road is spent on dry dusty trails in Mojave area, so i appreciate the comments about dust getting in. I'll be considering that with whatever solution or combination i choose.

Did you get installed, mind sharing some pics?

Looks to be one piece for the sill and rocker panels. Can't tell if it would work with rubi rock rails.
