One other question. I'll put it here hoping for an answer rather than starting a new thread.

The doors have these plastic struts that are used to control them. They seem unnecessary with the canvas parts that prevent the doors from opening too much.

Is it worth reconnecting those plastic struts or just leave them off to make removing the doors easier?

At this point Itried pulling them out but they require too much force. If the consensus is to connect them, what's the best way to get them back out.

Thanks.
Personal preference. I like the feel of the heavier door as well as the stops. So they’ll be connected through the colder months, and disconnected and tucked into the door for the warmer months where the doors are off as often as possible.

This also means the first few weeks of connecting or disconnecting that stop I forget about the change in force required to open the doors and either hit myself in the dome because it didn’t open as far as I thought or Hulk-pull it open and scramble to catch it.

The easiest way to get the door checks (black bar) back out is to close the door just enough to where you can get the bolt started. Thread it a few turns with your fingers than open the door. My kids somehow bump one in on one of the 4 doors every time. This summer I have twice as many to worry about ??‍♂

Be careful using a screw driver or tool to yank it out. Those things are plastic and a pain to replace from what I have seen.

3) How likely am I to damage the electrical connector if I put them on and off regularly. I'm mechanically inclined and used to being delicate with things that require you to be delicate. Do I need to buy the upgraded connector that a member makes and sells for $175?? I realize this is important because screwing up the connector can literally disable the vehicle. (Computer thinks the door is open and won't let you shift into Drive)

Thanks!!

If you want tool-less and nothing remaining when removed, my set up might be what you want.
Its a Double take adventure motorcycle mirror with a RAM Tough-claw, small size w/1" ball and a 3" long RAM arm 1" ball size.

They keep their adjustment and you can pop them on/off the grab handle in seconds.
They are clear and do not budge at speed.

These probably cost more than you WANT to pay, but I absolutely love mine. It was the 3rd or 4th attempt at a decent solution, and they're the first ones that don't flex in the wind or vibrate really bad.
They go on instantly, and also have the foot peg as a bonus.

Regarding the connectors? just don't bend a pin and you won't bend a pin. I know they're thin and fragile, but it seems like that takes a special kind of clumsy to screw up....
Checked these out yesterday from this post. Ordered and received them in under 24 hrs (I had the shipping notice within an hr of ordering). Looking forward to using this weekend!

could you post the parts list or Amazon links for how you got this to work? I could see this being very useful and would appreciate it very much!

I don't know of a mirror that meets your requirements, they may exist I've just never seen it. Those are pretty limiting requirements.
I've also never used the hinge pins.

As for bent pins in the connector, I was one of them. The very first time I put doors back on I ran into it on one, and I was as gentle with that one as I was the other 3. Once I got the pin fixed, I've yet to see the issue come back.

It may be possible that some get bent at install in the factory and it's not found till you then try to reconnect.

Do you have a link to this adapter? I've not seen one but I would be interested in it.

A tip - it helps to disconnect the female end from the Jeep which lets it free hang, allowing a much easier connection angle.

Anyone have a link to the upgraded connector???
I'm trying to find them. I saw it either here or jlwranglerforums.com. And I'm striking out in both places.

I've been through at least 8 different options between my old CJ, YJ, TJ, JK and now JT and these are by far the best. Quick on and off, sturdy, easily adjusted and can take a beating. I leave them in the bed (bed cover) when not in use and they have handled everything so far. I've had them for almost 2 years and still look pretty good.

These look great too. Though the only ones like that I could find were $150.

Sorry for the poor quality here, but it's all I had; one thing I (well, my wife..) DIDN"T like on the Kikbax was the foot peg is a black steel rod right at eye level with my kid and my thigh.... So I drilled an appropriately sized hole in golf balls, painted them Billet Metalic Silver, and jammed them on. Problemo Solvedo.
