I also wonder if the new text going into effect was part of FCA's decision to kill off the ecodiesel. The timing lines up perfectly.

The EcoDiesel was discontinued due to the HPFP recall. Stellantis had to issue a stop sale until a fix was in place. Two years went by, and Stellantis still didn't have enough parts to supply both the recall and production. I believe the EcoDiesel would be back today (just like the Hemi) had VM Motori stopped building diesels engines for passenger vehicles.

The Performance Warranty covers repairs which are required during the first 2 years or 24,000 miles of vehicle use (whichever first occurs) because the vehicle failed an emission test. Specified major emission control components are covered for the first 8 years or 80,000 miles (whichever first occurs).

There are three specified major emission control components, covered for the first 8 years or
80,000 miles of vehicle use (whichever first occurs) on 1995 and newer vehicles:
• Catalytic converters
• The electronic emissions control unit or computer (ECU)
• The onboard emissions diagnostic device or computer (OBD)

Can Any Portion of An Emissions Warranty Repair Be Charged to Me?
If you have valid warranty claim, you cannot be charged for any costs associated with the
diagnosis or repair of the problem, including labor charges, parts, or miscellaneous items that
are necessary to complete the repair. For example, if a manufacturer agrees to replace a catalytic
converter under the emissions warranty, you should not be charged for the diagnosis of the bad
converter, or any pipes, brackets, adjustments, or labor needed to complete the replacement.

The problem is that the DPF failed. In order to change the DPF and replace the vehicle back to normal operating condition they have to replace the sensors that are stuck in it. Without those sensors, your vehicle will not run. I was wrong about sensors being considered a major emissions control component. They are just as important as any other component, but they aren't thousands of dollars.

2020 Gladiator Rubicon

I had a code and it was the Cat. I am picking up from the Dealer, complete sh** show over there, so I'll be able to let you know how it goes when it's time to "pay up", The cat is covered under the EPA warranty. They said a sensor on the cat might be bad so for a discounted price (parts) of $90 they would sell me the part and not charge labor since the cat would already be out.

It's been incredibly frustrating dealing with this Dealership. I told them I would pick it up tomorrow morning and I wanted the old parts. They said "Absolutely. The core charge for the cat is $1000 and $200 for each sensor". How is the core charge more than the part?

I just wanted the parts to be a pain in the ass. What was supposed to be a 1/2-day turnaround, their words, turned into 2.5 days.

Update - A very late update.....

1 cat was replaced, along with a sensor, at no cost. I had to take it back for them to fix my fender liner but other than that everything has been going well.
