Kilroy Sounds like a solid plan. Plenty of stops no need to worry about really hitting gas stations before last stop. When I did that in my JK hell I didn't miss a gas station haha. Now with The JTRD and the JLUD gas stations no longer a problem. as others have mentioned I hit up all the truck stops for Fuel stretch and food in a hurry, part of the reason we drive is to venture to local eats. Deming has several good local places As well as Las Cruces. I would eat in Deming Irmas Si Señor several Mexican food places then stop in Cruces for Caliches Custard. Safe travels.

I don't care, like I said I legitimately wonder what people do when they only drive 8 hours a day on road trips. If he said hookers and blow in the hotel room then I can see killing 16 hours a day. Maybe you like sit down meals with 3 course lunches and 7 course dinners so killing 6 hours a day eating is possible? Again, no judgement just a question. Maybe you want to catch a film every evening, although I wouldn't want to spend my down time in a chair with limited leg room as I might as well still be driving at that point, you do you.
Im attending a course that I cannot show up late to. I decided to give myself four days for the trip in case I run into bad weather or have mechanical issues. I'm not going to stop driving once I hit 8 hours, Im just going to see how I feel and keep driving if I want. Its totally fine if I end up getting there a day or so early.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but anti freeze washer fluid. You can’t get it in SoCal. Get a bottle of 90% isopropyl alcohol and add to the fluid. I made the trip years ago in a grand Cherokee San Diego to Oklahoma in the winter and washer fluid froze before flagstaff and stayed till back in ca a week later. I just in October road tripped in my gladiator straight through both ways 21 hours. Just enjoy the drive.
Thanks for the tip!

I just did 3 round trips to San Antonio in the last 2 week. I-10 was pretty much a breeze. The tunnel in Mobile was a pain on one trip because of the hour traveling. Depend on your Georgia destination, you will most likely miss Mobile if you are going to the Atlanta/north part of Georgia. Otherwise, Mobile was the only small issue. There was a bit of construction on I-10. I didn't see much work going on, but that could have been of the holidays.

My only fuel stop issues were my own doing. I tend to go full to empty, minimizing the fuel stops to 3. If you fill up in Lake Charles, you won't have a problem with fuel stations. All bets are off after midnight. Lots of stations are closed. Stick to the truck stops, they will be open.

Training for the military.
My son is doing some training at Ft. Stewart this coming weekend. I'm looking at a house near Ft Benning ( forgot the new name). So that was my last trip, SAT to LaGrange Georgia. You will miss the Mobile tunnel by taking I 65 to I 85 into georgia. Both great highways. Lots of trees! If you are headed to Ft. Stewart, and run into troubles send me a PM.

Bucees and Loves. Keep the tank full and the bladder empty!
Bucess is nice, its clean and what cornucopia of products but always crowded. It is weird that there is no trucks allowed
Loves I am a big fan clean and lots of truck stop stuff to distract you (I really like Loves original jerky)
TA is ok Gas and basic
Flying J tends to be more trucks and kinda dirty

I just did NH to Florida and Back, with the family (wife and 3 kids 15,13,11) in our 23 JT. It was tight, but road trips are what you make of them. We choose taking the Gladiator over our suburban this time, purely on being newer and hence smaller tool kit needed

Bucees is always crowded because it's so good. But they treat their employees nicely so everyone is friendly and fast. You can get in and get out very quickly if you want. They always have like 400 people working registers.

Where in Georgia?
Just curious. I am from there (Lithia Springs, Blue Ridge), there is lots to see in Georgia. Stone Mountain, The waterfalls of N. Georgia, stuff like that.

For the OP, all I can offer is that crossing the MS River into Baton Rouge will probably suck. I-10 necks down to one lane on the east side of the bridge.

Just by-pass NOLA lol. But I'm not a fan (I live an hour north).

Depends on who with / where I'm traveling.

With my old Jeep crew leaving from Louisiana anywhere cool was 22-24 hours away, so we normally drove 14-16 hours the first day and the remainder the second and enjoyed a nice dinner in whatever town to celebrate our arrival (like going to Moab).

That being said, it was not uncommon for us to pound out 16-19 hour / 900-1,000 mile days to enjoy more time at our destination.

When I'm taking my mom or girlfriend somewhere I reduce the push.

Next month I think I'm going to the NASCAR race in Atlanta. About seven hours away - since its under a day anyway I don't always push hard. Stop every 2 hours, stretch my legs, maybe pull of at something interesting, etc.

I just did that stretch the other day. Two lanes are open. The shoulder is being used as the second lane. Wasn't an issue for me.

Anytime I travel for work my trip there is usually direct, but my trip home I always try to just go with the flow. Best advice I can give is to take the scenic route. Avoid freeways, check out the small towns, eat at mom and pops restaurants. Take your time and don't rush.

Thats when you find those hidden gems.
