Hi,

I was driving today with 4H. When I noticed going from full stop to moving, making a turn at low speed my jeep was trying to “jump” or losing gear, not sure how to better describe.

why did that happen? What. Have I done wrong?

What type of surface was you on? If high traction that can or will happen. Especially fun with a front locker engaged

what kind of surface were you driving on? No 4wd vehicle will turn well on dry pavement without jumping or pushing. Its even worse with the front differential locked

That sounds like binding in the u-joints. Was the surface slippery? 4-hi is not AWD.

I think I've locked the front once and tried to turn lol didn't go well. Ended up just turning them both off and bumping it every so slightly.

I locked both while pulling a Tacoma uphill in the snow a few months back but unlocked the front immediately after getting the guy going because i didn't have much control even on snow covered trails. I will probably never lock the front again unless it absolutely needed

Yep you got it binding seems to be the case, I asked more people and they promptly said it was binding, heavy or not rain don't try 4H expecting AWD it won't work that way.
So yes I engaged in 4H to have a line AWD, which was wrong from me

It’s normal. Front and rear are locked together and causes that while turning sharp. Thankfully we have power steering.

I dig your username. Here’s a funny song for you ?
??
Hahaha never saw that before thanks man.

Pavement, asphalt with rain. I was trying to replicate an AWD eff ct with 4H, which was wrong of me.

It seems what I did is called binding, all wheels trying to turn at same time in a flat surface, not supposed to use 4H in this situation, despite of weather not on regular paved roads

Yeah AWD works differently than 4wd. As long as you are not giving it throttle 4wd will still work on dry but isn't recommended and could possibly cause some broken parts

Yep. Great way to pop a u-joint or worse. But usually just freaks you out, binds everything up tight, makes it nearly impossible to push the transfer lever back to 2WD, and generally makes you feel stupid. Happens to us all at one time or another. Easy fix , though. Reverse in a S shape while pushing the lever to 2WD. It will unbind and you will be on your merry way.
