Any idea if this would have the same routing for a 3.6 gas? I have the same shifter message with the Christmas tree light show and lose of P/S intermittently showing up. Two dealers can't duplicate issue of course. I have a 21 with 20900 miles on it.

In your 1st picture, it appears that the connector is not fully seated or connected. Unless I missed it, I didn't see or read about it in your description.
So I thought that as well, the dealership “cleaned” it and did t put it back properly, however when I disassembled it it’s actually a jacket that protects the back of the wires it’s not the actual plug that’s not seated I fixed it when I put in the RTV on the harness,

Yes it does have the same route

I can almost guarantee you this is the issue, that com wire harness plugs direct into the trans, I would follow it and try and view it the best as possible, you will actually have more room to view as opposed to the diesel owners!

Similar situation happened to me, it happened while I was towing my camper up steep grades and I thought I had pushed it too hard. Service stability control. Service traction control lights lit up and the transfer case gear indicator was blinking.

I took it to jeep dealer and jeep sends it to the ram dealer they also own. Ram says they did a software update and it's good to go. It wasn't. I brought it back to jeep and after a couple weeks I got it back.

They said after the mopar lift was installed it caused the harness to get too close to the EGR causing melted wires.

This is exactly what im talking about........... when the dealership cant figure it out the blame anything on a tire or a control arm HAHAHA, not funny though....
most likely this kinds of issue would cause that, there my particular wire that was grounding happened to be my transmission, however there are like 20 wires in that harness, im not really sure what they all do.

I believe you are correct, the earlier issue is the attached YouTube video!
Brandon...items like this are why I pour over this site regularly. I can figure out what tires I like and whether or not I want to make a gear change, but this info and alerts like it are so valuable. Thank You. I have had to make several corrections and always prefer to be proactive. Dealer techs can be limited in their knowledge and too dependent on service technical bulletins. You just wrote one. Thanks, RandyP111.

I had some form of this. It took several trips to the dealer. I had two Oh shhh moments where the vehicle lost power and went into limp mode for a bit. One was in the middle of a pass on a two-lane highway, and the other was just as I was cresting a steep climb off-road, which could easily have caused a rollover. I rolled back rapidly and unexpectedly.

I ended up emailing this post from the JL form https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/“service-shifter”-wire-harness-issue.68876/ to my service writer while they had it in for the third or maybe fourth time and asking if they could check this possibility. They came right back and said that they had found the problem and would have it fixed for a trip that weekend.

I'm sure they did not pull any major component, and I am honestly not sure exactly what they did to resolve it, but it has been almost two years and 30k miles or so since then with no further problems.

The wife still cringes every time the Jeep chimes, though.

Mine did similar until they went through the CAN bus star connectors behind the glove box. No more shifter communication issues. So it may not be the harness.

Wouldn’t you think that as smart as these “engineers” are that design these things, they would be able to figure out that wires too close to hot exhaust should have some kind of heat shield? It boggles my mind to think of all the wiring issues I’ve had with Jeeps over the years. Fuel pumps , transmissions, wiring issues, bad sensors
.

Because there is no 12 step program to wein you off. Either you keep doing it, or go cold turkey. Only to see you relapse years later.

If you could.... try and obtain from the dealer what all they pulled to correct this issue that would be fantastic knowledge to have, one of the guys on here said they could pull the exhaust from the vehicle, ill be checking that this weekend!
