Great pics and super helpful! Now whoever does the rest please take some more pics to add so we can perfect this fix.

@JeepCares I don’t blame Stellantis for this given I haven’t owned a perfect engine in ANY vehicle but I sure hope that they do the right thing to rectify this glaring issue and now well documented issue and get a TSB going.

Amen. Every person who has seen this issue - whether or not it has yet caused a code or worse, should contact JeepCares with details. A nicely worded note with specifics, your observation and how far or bad the wear had gotten.
Numbers count -

Yes it does have the same route…… I can almost guarantee you this is the issue, that com wire harness plugs direct into the trans, I would follow it and try and view it the best as possible, you will actually have more room to view as opposed to the diesel owners!
Mine did similar until they went through the CAN bus star connectors behind the glove box. No more shifter communication issues. So it may not be the harness.

It appears this is just a diesel issue. I looked under my JTR (gasser) and saw no major or obvious wire rubbing issues. I was not able to see on top of the trans though so couldn't check that area. I'll try and post pics tomorrow if I can get back to it - just for comparison sake since someone asked, not trying to hijack the thread.

There is another way to reach this location. Although it does require a few hours it’s much easier than pulling the body or engine out, and that’s to simply remove the DPF to gain access.

After purchasing my new gladiator I immediately installed an added layer of protection to hopefully eliminate this problem.

I installed Design engineering heat shroud around the length of the harness and zip tied it up a little better.
With the DPF removed you can gain access to it.

You didn't happen to do a YouTube video documenting every detail and aspect of that dpf removal by any chance?

I didn’t take any videos. I posted a picture on page 3 of the mounting locations and electrical connections that need to be removed for the DPF to come out. The hardest part is getting to the electrical connections. I’d probably just remove the sensors from the DFP if I had to do it again instead of trying disconnecting the electrical connector itself.. Other than that it’s really not too bad getting off. But again that’s my personal perspective. After it’s off the problem wiring harness has room to get the new shield wrapped around it to prevent any future wear.

Sorry no pics today, was working on the LJ. I'll try tomorrow.

Can someone confirm this is the harness of concern ? If so mine looks to be located properly with the bracket. I could not see any rubbing

Yes that's the correct harness but the rubbing occurs farther up against the firewall near the mounting stud that its zip tied to.

Ok thank you, what's your easiest vantage point ? Down from above or do I need to pull the fender liner ?

Is this limited to the diesels? I have had similar intermitant "service shifter" messages on my '21 with the 3.6L. Seems to happen when very wet from rain. Just wondering if this could be the same or similar issue?

Is there a chance that Jeep remedied the issue by the time my Gladiator was built in December of 2023?
Mine was built 12/23, looks like the picture above. Bunch of BS. Same level of brain dead BS that showed up on both my TRX's. Dumped both of them due to all the stupid beginner level mistakes on both those trucks that the dealer could never resolve. Here we are again with same issue of brain dead BS.

Thanks for verifying. It looks like I'll be waiting for Jeep to issue a recall/TSB. If not, then I might have to see if @1945gpw would like to help a brother, for a fee of course. ?

Agreed, wait for the TSB. Frustrating as heck. Who lays wiring of any kind against not only abrasive shielding as in this case but there was an earlier issue of wiring laying on the exhaust of just next to it unshielded? Braindead.

It became apparent to me on the TRX's that whoever designed the suspension had no idea about offroad matters at all and whoever designed the entertainment center/screen had no idea about useful user interfaces. Blood pressure rising, have to let this go for now.
