Android - and I have an LG tablet with AlfaOBD on it. I prefer using a tablet when looking for things as my eyes aren't what they were when I was 15 and reading the dates on old coins for my father - without a magnifying glass. The phone is fine for quick checks, but having a tablet with it is fantastic.

AlfaOBD is a different audience - think sports cars, Alfa-Romeo, all the Alfa stuff, Fiat and so on, a broader market, more than Ram trucks and Jeeps so it makes sense they are very current and in-depth.

Other than the tablet, it’s like my exact setup, lol. I have a smaller tablet, but it works perfectly for the setup.

Even my little Nexus would be ok for this, better than a phone. But this one makes it easy to search long lists, etc.
Now that I have the extension cables tucked up under the lower dash trim, connecting is a breeze.

I tried this on my 2019 JLUR (manufactured in March 2019) with Advanced Safety Group (incl. ACC). Unfortunately, it does not work. I was able to get "Auto Dim High Beams" in menu but when I try to check this option, it's automatically unchecked in a second or two. It looks that some hardware (or software) for Automatic High Beams is not present on these older JL Wranglers.

Updated info:

The one setting JScan was missing was the ability to set the sensors location to “IRCM” like AlfaOBD can do. I reached out to them about it a few months back, but they have now released the update that has this fixed, so now the IRCM setting is available. With this update, you should now be able to enable the Auto High Beams with JScan as well as AlfaOBD. This now gives us an iPhone option as well.

I have been working with JScan for a couple weeks on this, the new version does enable the function but the setting is still missing from the lighting settings on the radio.

So you can enable it in jscan, but can't check or uncheck in the CSM on the radio (I think that's what it's called - CSM....)

It's probably something they don't get a lot of calls for - and if the fellow is busy with a full-time job as well as doing this, he'll need customer help in determining what's needed.

So, are you saying that activating this setting does not put the setting in the radio (keep in mind it could take a day for it to show up)?

If not, try the same setting while using a different vehicle connection, such as 2013-2021 Ram DJ.

Yeah, I am providing what details I can but I am not technical for this.

Correct, I have that option enabled but it is not showing within the radio settings after waiting 24+ hours.

Try it using the Ram DJ 13-21 as the vehicle to diagnose. I know it works on Ram, and that setting changes the same message ID no matter what FCA vehicle it is.

Yes, it does take a while - anywhere from overnight to 24 hours. Typically less than 24 for me, but I've heard from others it may take that long.
I don't know if that is a choice in jscan - you actually have to CHOOSE to have that menu selection show in the radio. If you can't go into jscan and tell it to add that CSM to the lighting menu - it will never show up.
Apparently that part is missing in jscan. You can make it WORK via jscan, you can make it active - but unless you can also go into jscan to tell it to add the menu choice, it won't show up on the screen.

Not sure I follow. That selection IS in Jscan under JT to activate or deactivate. It’s probably a dead setting in the JT list on Jscan.

If THIS isn't present in jscan - it will never show up on the radio menu -

CustSetMenu 1: Auto High Beam CSM Present- YES

For passive entry, you also have to CHOOSE for it to show in the menu - you can make it work - but it will not be in the menu on the radio unless you add it using the software. It will simply work with no way to disable it -
Passive entry CSM > yes/ active

You can make things work, you can set them active - but it won't be a menu choice on the radio menu unless you set the CSM to yes/active/present.

Yes, active or deactive, but is the menu setting there to make it show in the settings menu on the radio?

Ok- Jscan and AlfaOBD name the settings differently (a little more user friendly for Jscan), but they are changing the exact same message IDs in the BCM. Jscan doesn’t use the real setting names, such as VehConfig 1, ECUConfig 1, CustSetMenu 1, etc.
The equivalent for AlfaOBD CustSetMenu 1,2,3 in Jscan would be “Radio User Settings”, and the equivalent for AlfaOBD CustSetMenu 1: Auto High Beam CSM Present in Jscan would be Radio User Settings > Auto High Beam On/Off. They both do the exact same thing.
