Engine Tick now needs replaced

My Gladiator has a ticking sound. Under diagnostics nothing could be found but metal shavings in the oil pan. They are putting a new engine in under warranty.
Will this be new or rebuilt from Jeep?

Does this make the Jeep worse or better?

Most likely a reman long block.

Won't make it worse or better. No impact. Why would it?
if I was looking for a used vehicle and found one that had an engine or transmission that was much lower miles, I'd consider it simply because it had lower miles on that part.

Well, if the new engine doesn’t tick and spit out metal shavings then I would think that makes it… better.

I can’t find much on these engines being replaced when searching online. Mostly just swap outs larger engines.

I had my engine replaced for ticking noise/oil filter full of shaveings in 2020.I am still driveing it with no problems 40000 miles later.They gave me a 6 year extended warranty for free also.you should ask about getting that but otherwise no worries.

23 w 47k. They already took the head off and cam lifters etc looked fine.

I had my engine replaced in August for the same thing. It was a brand new engine.
If you’re under warranty I don’t think they can legally use a rebuilt. I know I wouldn’t agree to one.
