This, Sound clip if available. Have thought about doing mine but from experience with other jeeps it sounds like crap. Haven't heard a JT without the muffler

I had my muffler cut out last year or so, still have the front and rear resonators. Sounds awesome, no drone. Not too loud though, I have neighbors and respect.

This is the way. Cut out the suitcase muffler (replace with pipe) and leave the 2 resonators. Sounds perfect and won't drive you crazy with drone inside the cabin.

I'm interested to hear the suitcase and rear resonator cut out together.

I've heard removing the suitcase is a negligible sound difference, but curious to hear both removed. From everything Ive heard, the front res has to stay to reduce drone.

Was all set to record the difference this morning on the way to work. Even brought my GoPro. I didn't record because there was absolutely nothing TO record. No sound difference whatsoever at any RPM or speed, just better looking without that big oatmeal tub hanging down.

I've had hot rods all my life. I think a V6 with a "performance" exhaust sounds almost as terrible as a 4 cylinder does. I cut it in a way that it would be easy to weld back on if it got the rice burner sound. I'll now be throwing away the resonator.

There won't be any issue melting paint or discoloring the bed with the exhaust running straight up under the bed?

It has a very slight grumble (for lack of a better term). Mostly when you get off the gas. I also have a snorkel and I modified my air intake tube (removed the sound baffle chambers) so that might be adding to the better tone??

I actually like the stock sound. It's quiet most of the time, but when it's punched it has a nice tone. I assume that's from the resonator. As far as looks go it doesn't bother me at all.
I don't do any crawling, so it shouldn't be an issue.

I cut it on the down side. Points to empty space. I'll get a picture when it's light out and post it.
