I am going to list on facebook the 285/70r17 Wildpeaks that came on my 22 Rubicon. Back in December I moved to 35s and the takeoffs are at 20k plus or minus a few hundred miles. They look great with even tread wear but one of them was patched at 10 to 12k after I noticed a slow leak and the tire shop found a trim nail had gone through the tread. Patched and no leak in 8 to 10k. I'm also selling the spare that has never been on the road. What I haven't come up with is what is a fair asking price. I'll add a few pictures I've taken. I have searched but haven't found Falken's with similar wear for sale. I'm thinking $700 picked up local for all 5 unmounted. What I'd like are opinions, does this sound like a fair price or should I start lower?

Your price seems about right. Might have to drop a little to get them sold.

Did you measure the tread depth?

FWIW I've had my 35" Toyo RT Trails for sale for ~3 months now. Listed at $800, one has a patch like yours, but they have ~6000 miles on them. Basically theyre in good condition and a good deal IMO at ~50% the cost of new.

Ive had about 4 inquiries and most of the time they offer a lower price. Basically the market seems kind of slow right now. I hope your luck is better.

No I don't have a tread depth gauge but I can always use a coin. I have them here at the office let me take a picture with a coin. I'm expecting to have to come down to get them sold but I just hate having no idea where to start.

I'm really expecting too much out of them. Just getting them out of the shop is worth something.

I have never replaced tires before still in this kind of shape. After you asked about tread depth, I took a couple of pictures with a penny. When I post them for sale I'll use the picture showng the least amount of Lincoln's head.

Curious why you are selling these tires? I’ve looked at them as future option. If you were closer to MS I would probably get them from you.
Any issues?

Me personally, I feel better about buying used tires if the seller gives a tread depth measurement. Then I can check what the tread depth is new and I can determine how worn they are. It also makes me feel like the seller has done their part knowing what they have for sale.

Providing a tread depth measurement also could make them sell easier. If a potential buyer thinks these are 30k mile tires and they are 67% worn according to you saying they have 20k miles on them, they aren't worth much. But if you get a tread depth measurement and it ends up being 70% of the new tread depth, you can leave the 20k miles out of your for sale posting and just say they have 70% tread.

You can get a tread depth gauge at the auto parts store for about $5. Or maybe you have a set of measuring calipers that can measure depth.

No, no issues at all. The main reason is that they are just taking up space in the storage building just like my takeoff wheels and suspension. My original plan was to keep them as backups in case I do something to more than one of the 35s. That was great but now I need to open up some space in the building to store mfor a realative

That makes perfect sense, thank you. When using the penny I also took a measurement with a ruler and it was about 3/8 of an inch so assuming my math is right, that would put them around 12/32 and Falken lists them at 18/32 new. I have calipers at home but have never owned a tread depth gauge. I'll pick one up tonight and get an exact measurement before listing them for sale.

No, no issues at all. I loved the Wildpeak AT3s but moved up to 35s after installing a lift last year. My plan was to keep these as backups but that changed a few weeks ago. My mother in law recently moved from a rental to assisted living. I needed more room in my building at home to store a lot of her things until my wife and her brothers decide what to do with it all. The tires are here at work in a warehouse but that is only a temporary solution.

Half the life left I don't think I'd go for more than 25 maybe 30% of new personally. Mostly cause the hassle of picking them up getting them mounted and balanced, and taking a chance on them having any defects etc. plus it's just not a big size and there is a lot of take off competition at that range.

Edit: New these are 283 a tire on a quick online search fyi

Dont want to derail this thread, but if youre referring to the Toyos. I just ended up getting a hell of a deal on some Mickey Thompsons and a wheel set. Couldnt pass it up and had money to spare so I bought them. The RT Trails were nice, Toyo makes stout tires. They were D load range, so they were still pretty soft for daily use. No complaints really, maybe a little louder than the Mickeys, but the Mickeys are only at 1000 miles right now.

Sounds I should start around $500 and take any decent offer. I’m not too worried about what I get out of them, anything’s better than stacking them outside to dry rot. Sadly I’ve also got the original set of Rubicon wheels to get rid of too but I can’t imagine they are worth much. Might be best to offer to throw them in if anyone shows interested in the tires
