Favorite mod: swapping my Mojave hood for Sport hood

Shortly after I bought my 2021 Mojave, I was able to swap the hood for a regular Sport hood. Reasons:

1. Huge weight savings. I wish I had weighed the steel Mojave hood before trading it, but is substantially heavier than stock aluminum hoods. I'd rather use that weight for other, functional mods like winch, bumper upgrades, etc.

2. Visibility. The taller Mojave hood with even taller fake scoop impedes visibility off road compared to standard hood.

3. Appearance: this is obviously subjective. I do think the Mojave hoods looks very cool. I like it. I just like a classic Jeep look even better. Also, I avoid fakeness when possible and the Mojave scoop is non-functional.

I had the dealership do the swap when my best friend bought a new 2-door Wrangler of the same color as my Mojave. Dealership threw in the hood swap as part of the sale of the Wrangler to my friend. Took about an hour. Now my friend might have the only 2-door Willy's Wrangler with a Mojave hood (he loves it) and I have the lower weight, better visibility, classic hood I prefer.

I still like the Rubicon hood over the Mojave, but the Mojave is the obviously best trim, so I'm dealing with it.

I would LOVE a Mojave hood on my Rubicon but won't pull the pin because of the price and loss of visibility on the trail. They sure look cool.

The hood on my 2023 Mojave is heavy as hell. For sure, not aluminum.

thtat'd be me. I even called my the dealer i bought from. They said they are unaware that hoods are made from differing materials. So no luck there. As far as i can tell i have the only Aluminum Mopar hood in existence. I have seen nor heard of anyone else with one. either that or mopar steel ain't magnetic but the latches are. It weighs about the same as my rubicon hood.

My Mojave hood is steel and magnets stick to it. Perhaps Jeep made a few aluminum Mojave hoods as an experiment to see if they would work well for production later. I wish mine were aluminum.

Even though I wouldn’t do that mod, you’ll also now have an easier time finding cowl mounts/lights, comms mounts, as well as snorkel, and light bar mounts above the windshield.
