Can someone accurately explain "Rubicon fenders"?
(This is in relation to tire clearance on a stock Gladiator and people saying you need to know which fenders you have)

I see one person say it means you have the two piece fenders vs the one piece from the Sport.
Well, I do have two piece fenders...
But then someone else says that's not it, you tell by where they are mounted. Rubicon fenders are right up next to the hood line.
Okay, I don't have that, but then I pull up next to a Rubicon and his fenders aren't next to the hood line either.
Then someone else say you tell by distance from fender to the stock bumper. 2" for Sport, 3" for Rubicon.
Well... mine is 3.5", or a little more.
So I'm nothing but confused.

How about a picture?

Rubicon fenders definitely go up higher to the hood line., which provides more room for larger tires and better articulation. Mine are stock except for the Mopar extensions. They can be painted like yours or the rougher black finish like mine. Folks change fenders, so you you see may or may not be what came on it.

So the Rubicon I last pulled up next to was likely a fake. Actually not the first "sticker job" I've seen around here!

Hadn't even heard that one as an option!
Only way to achieve max towing rating. The lip on the fender gives it away.

Cool. Good to know. Looking for more using that description I found that it's part of the wider axels.

Tried looking through my options list for any indication (I knew I don't have "Max-Tow", I don't even have a receiver!) Another one I looked at did have it, but also had a bunch of things I wasn't interested in that bumped the price.
Some of the other options I think are PARTS of the Max-Tow though.
Didn't find any reference to the fenders other than the painted option, but I did find some interesting/funny things (including some that I've seen people on here say aren't available on the Nighthawk).

"Sales Tracking"- I guess this is the pop up ads some people complain about and others never see. Not exactly an "option" I would choose. Listed twice so I guess I can look forward to doubles.
"Sales Distribution Tracking"- Make that triple...
"Black"- That's it. Not what is black, just that I get "black".
"Disassociated Touchscreen Display"- My screen has mental problems?
"Aluminum Wheels"- Listed twice. Do I get a spare set?
"Tip Start"- Do I have to pay for each start? Or is this an odd way to say that when the fob is dead you can push the button with the corner of the fob to start it?
"4 Additional Gallons of Gas"- Did they overfill my tank? Did test drives use up my "free" gas?
Springs... listed individually, but not all together. Also listed as a spring package + a shock package.

"110MPH Vehicle Max Speed Calibration"- I knew it! Someone told me Gladiators are limited to 97, but I knew I broke 100!!!

Some of the standard equipment is funnier though:
"Air Filter"- Good, I like filtered air.
"Steering Wheel"- Glad I didn't have to pay extra for that!
"Gloss Black Limited Badge"- Standard equipment... but limited.
"Driver's seat"- Thanks. The passenger seat must be optional!

Do you have a link to the listing, or window sticker?

Mojave fenders sit higher, too.
Yeah, it seems like the colloquial term for them is based on the Rubicon though. Unless there's another version I hadn't found info on yet!

Roaming around today I got up close to 4 more stock Rubicons. Only two of them had the top of the fender sitting higher than mine in relation to the hood (like RMansfield's picture). One with painted fenders, one unpainted.
Three of the four were Wranglers though. Are the Wranglers different or are there just a lot of people around here putting stickers on their Jeeps? Maybe it bumps resale value to trick people with stickers?

On the plus side for my taste, the one gladiator was a near visual duplicate of mine other than the higher fenders, and I like the look of mine better. I'm unlikely to change tires until mine wear out, and even then maybe only bump to 34's, so it's not like I need the clearance
