Concur, I aim for 2 gallons after shutoff. If i'm greedy, i'll go for 2.5 gal.

Depending on which pump and nozzle. I can get another 2 to 3 gallons in after the first shut off. I notice a difference in nozzle flows between different pumps.

I used the 12" straight jaw "channel locks" to twist the nozzle. I tried the curved jaws and no joy. Then pry the nozzle out w/ a flat screwdriver. I tapped the nozzle back into place. Like others noted it's about a 5 minute mod.

Did this today with wire stripper method. Worked awesome. Took about 7 min from start to finish. Thank you for the input.

I tried the channel lock method yesterday and broke part of the fuel cap seating area. I chose to just take the whole assembly out and then take it apart. My first diesel was done the same way. Hopefully no issues with this being broke and having check engine lights later.

Mine has looked the same for 3 years now (tried using a prybar before looking up how the flap was attached). It'll still seal well enough you can fill it all the way up the neck with out it leaking all over the fender.

Also diesel doesn't evaporate, so no evaporative emission system. AKA you can drive around with a rag as a fuel cap and never get a CEL.
