I’ll be calling the dealer soon. I’ll keep ya posted

I had the earlier recall done, which simply consisted of reprogramming the computer to reduce engine torque when a certain temperature is reached. That is the way Jeep explained it. I don't see how that could work unless there is in fact a temperature sensor in the clutch housing.I received my letter a couple of days ago. Jeep is instructing me to make an appointment for a no-charge replacement of the clutch assembly along with some updates to the system to detect and warn of high operating temps.
Does any know any details about this such as: Is it the same crappy clutch the truck came with or is it better?![]()
new clutch assembly and software flash? I’m regeared to 5.13 and I’m nervous af.Works as expected of a clutch. I did get a clutch temperature warning w new clutch, but otherwise more smooth actuation, solved a clutch shudder when engaging

did you take unmarry your tazer?
So I just got my jeep back from the dealers. I talked to the tech at drop off and made sure they were tracking I have a tazer (I unmarried it at drop off) and 5.13s, he noted it down. I got a call 20 mins later asking if I got the gear and tune done at a dealer, after I briefed them.. they gave me the option to get the software update or not. I opt for only the clutch assembly and no update.I've been waiting quite awhile for a real fix, and once the replacement came online I figured this is as close as it would get, so I scheduled the service. The morning I showed up though I was told by local dealer that flashing the computer with the latest update was required, and unfortunately it was incompatible with any gearing deeper than 4:56 - he said they had two manuals in the shop that would not run after the install and flash, and at the time Jeep had no fix.
The dealer advised that if I planned to regear I might want to wait until they had a fix in place, because once it's reprogrammed there's no going back to an earlier version (I plan on regearing to 5:38 in the near future).
I have purposely never had any of the recalls addressed because I don't want the computer to cut power when it 'thinks' I'm in a potential overheating situation.
Maybe they've come up with a software fix by now, but I figure I'll stay away from Jeeps' solution' and go the centerforce route before next summer, as I feel it's a better option for my needs anyways.
It's too bad Jeep chose this particular clutch setup and subsequent fix, but it's still nice to be able to row gears - and as crappy as it is, the OEM setup has survived 65k miles, so it's not all bad I reckon...

Part department says it’s pretty much the same clutch.. they also said I could have squeeze another 20k miles of my stock clutch. (Sitting at just under 70k). Regardless I’m happy for now, I’ll probably do ACT clutch when I’m due.
