I received my letter a couple of days ago. Jeep is instructing me to make an appointment for a no-charge replacement of the clutch assembly along with some updates to the system to detect and warn of high operating temps.

Does any know any details about this such as: Is it the same crappy clutch the truck came with or is it better?🤔
I had the earlier recall done, which simply consisted of reprogramming the computer to reduce engine torque when a certain temperature is reached. That is the way Jeep explained it. I don't see how that could work unless there is in fact a temperature sensor in the clutch housing.

I never experienced any issue before or after that recall. On the plus side, after the reprogram, I now get the gear number on the display, which was not present originally. My JT is a 2020, manufactured in June, 2020.

Last week I had the new recall done, which consisted of replacing the entire clutch assembly, according to my service advisor. When I picked it up on Friday late, the first time I drove it I knew something was wrong. Clutch pedal did not return to usual position (in line with brake pedal). It got worse over the weekend and eventually would not fully disengage even if pushed hard to the floor, which makes it a bitch to shift!

I took it back in early Monday, and they said, it just needs a reset. Only took a few minutes, and I was on my way. Seems to work just fine since. Got my fingers crossed.

Had mine done today. Dealer just called to tell me it’s ready. I’ll post something in a couple of days. 🤞

I haven't received my letter yet, but i did get a text from the dealership that I had a recall. 90k miles so far in the stock one. If I can get a new clutch for free, might as well.

Anyone tried getting the dealer to install an aftermarket clutch instead of the new recalled clutch? I've had an ACT sitting in the garage for over a year now but the stocker has been working fine, so I never pressed the issue. But, if I could get a free install, I'd go that route.

wishful thinking...

OK… picked the truck up yesterday. It took just over 1/2 day to do the clutch, oil change and tire rotation. With about 60 miles of combined highway and stop-n-go city, I have to say that I’m very, very pleased with the results. The original clutch had somewhat of a “wandering engagement “. I never knew where in the pedal release that the engage would happen. This new one is very consistent. So far-so good.

Had mine done week and a half ago. Clutch still acts the same to me. On top of that, got home from work 20 minutes ago and the "service transmission" light came on as I pulled into the driveway. I'm not a happy camper and calling dealership first thing in the morning. I'm afraid it's going to go into limp mode if I try to drive it anywhere now, as has been said on other threads

Works as expected of a clutch. I did get a clutch temperature warning w new clutch, but otherwise more smooth actuation, solved a clutch shudder when engaging

I've been waiting quite awhile for a real fix, and once the replacement came online I figured this is as close as it would get, so I scheduled the service. The morning I showed up though I was told by local dealer that flashing the computer with the latest update was required, and unfortunately it was incompatible with any gearing deeper than 4:56 - he said they had two manuals in the shop that would not run after the install and flash, and at the time Jeep had no fix.

The dealer advised that if I planned to regear I might want to wait until they had a fix in place, because once it's reprogrammed there's no going back to an earlier version (I plan on regearing to 5:38 in the near future).

I have purposely never had any of the recalls addressed because I don't want the computer to cut power when it 'thinks' I'm in a potential overheating situation.

Maybe they've come up with a software fix by now, but I figure I'll stay away from Jeeps' solution' and go the centerforce route before next summer, as I feel it's a better option for my needs anyways.

It's too bad Jeep chose this particular clutch setup and subsequent fix, but it's still nice to be able to row gears - and as crappy as it is, the OEM setup has survived 65k miles, so it's not all bad I reckon...

So I just got my jeep back from the dealers. I talked to the tech at drop off and made sure they were tracking I have a tazer (I unmarried it at drop off) and 5.13s, he noted it down. I got a call 20 mins later asking if I got the gear and tune done at a dealer, after I briefed them.. they gave me the option to get the software update or not. I opt for only the clutch assembly and no update.

Part department says it’s pretty much the same clutch.. they also said I could have squeeze another 20k miles of my stock clutch. (Sitting at just under 70k). Regardless I’m happy for now, I’ll probably do ACT clutch when I’m due.

I pulled my factory clutch out post recall.
same part number…. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t redesigned but typically I’d expect to a change of some sort. Hated it though so put the act in and like it much better

It’s been about 5 months now. Figured I’d check in. The new clutch is still working great. Has a very consistent engagement. All I could have asked for.
