I was attempting to remove the back of my hardtop today, which is already not the smartest thing in the world, and realized I was an even bigger idiot when I heard my roof knocking into my awning. Metal channels on the back of the awning ate up my hardtop and left me with the scratches pictured below. Is the touch up pen from mopar enough to fix this or am I looking at a professional job?

That is down to the fiberglass coat. Nothing short of a professional redo will make it look factory again. That being said, I would wear it as trail rash and none would be the wiser. 68623586AA is the paint pen touch up paint for the hard top if you still want to make do.

Just make up a good story about how you scratched it up pulling a Bronco out that was stuck in the mud!! ? Seriously though I understand wanting to keep your ride pristine. Once I got over my first few scratches and redneck pin stripes my truck became alot more enjoyable. Not saying I don't care if I tear it up because I certainly do but don't sweat the small stuff. I think some flat black enamel and a q-tip would cover it well enough no one would even notice it.

I had some scratches after my rear glass replacement and used Mopar black hardtop touch up for wranglers. Worked great can’t even find where the scratches were bought mine on Amazon

I might try some textured spray paint over black touchup. Just a spritz. Half pressed nozzle. But I can’t speak from experience on that in this application. I’ve used it like that when repainting an entire textured item. When the paint differences would all be covered.
Lots of different blacks and sheens out there.
I had a couple edge dings on my jk top. From storage and transport. I was happy with sharpie. But it wasn’t as bad as yours.

and taking the top off your Jeep is ALWAYS the right thing to do. Tops should be an option. As roofs are trying to limit your success- Doors are just shifty walls trying to block your way to a fulfilling life.

fyi. I found that the easiest way for me is just unbolting and rolling it onto the tonneau. (Rotating it so it’s top down on the tonneau cover the. Spinning it around and flipping it over onto my head to carry. ). 2x4s could substitute for tonneau.
then I just stand it up against a wall (the rubber feet in the freedom top bag are to protect the edge when standing on end). It doesn’t weigh much more than a bag of dog food and can be easily carried by hand unless you’re so short as to have too narrow a grip to balance it.

My goal was to flip it up onto my RTT and do a similar thing but then I realized I was bashing against the awning so it became another issue. I’ll probably use sharpie for the longer streaks and I got the mopar pen for the bug out bits. See what happens I guess. If it looks passable I’ll just leave it and maybe when I go to get rid of it I’ll get it touched up by a shop if it’s even an issue.

Just called my shop to verify. They do it and its about $500. But guaranteed for life and they said they do it pretty often.
