I'm using the NSA Ready Brute Elite tow bar system - has a built-in mechanical brake system that works well. If you've already got a tow bar, then they make the Ready Brake unit that attaches between the RV's receiver and the tow bar.,

I second the NSA Ready Brake or Ready Brute Elite (if you don’t already have a tow bar). Either one eliminates the need for power at the Jeep while towing.

I already had a Roadmaster tow bar and Roadmaster baseplate so just needed the Ready Brake kit. Simply insert the Ready Brake into hitch then the tow bar into the Ready Brake. This is a one time effort.

The installation on the Jeep is running a cable from the front bumper to the brake pedal. This to is a one time effort.

Then when hooking up the Jeep to the tow bar, it’s a 5 second effort to connect the cable between the Ready Brake to the cable on the Jeep.

NSA provides additional parts such as a breakaway safety cable, and an indicator setup that runs to the mh dash to let you know the brakes have been activated.

I’m towing with a 31’ Newmar Bay Star Sport, with a Ford F53. The Jeep is just under the receiver hitch rating, and 5-600 lbs under the GCWR. Took it to Asheville the other week and all good.

most states, as I recall, requires an aux brake system if what’s being towed is over N pounds (N varies by state), some also require a breakaway system in case the tow setup fails.

Yeah your Prevost should have no issues towing or stopping, but not sure you want to have a highway shoulder conversation with an officer?

Most states require an auxiliary braking system for flat towing a vehicle. I'm not sure that you would be pulled over, but in the event of an accident you could be held liable.

To the OP, we use an Air Force 1 braking system. It's very easy to hook up and accommodates our air brakes. We have a '22 Sport S.

Well my vote is a RVI3, I have one and it takes 60 sec works great and you can run their tire pressure monitors and just have 1 screen in your coach.

Must be a limitation of the F53 chassis. I have a 36' Bounder on an F53, and I'm in the same boat: very near the weight limits.

Oh, and I use a Brake Buddy.

I used to use a Brake Buddy but tired of putting it in, taking it out. Switched to a NSA Ready Brake. Simple installation, no power required at Jeep, simple connect to cables when hooking up.
