How in the heck do I tell if the fog lights on my '25 Rubicon w/ plastic bumper are LED or Halogen. Wanting to get the Mopar stubby metal bumper and they say the LED works, but the Halogen need some different housing or mounting bracket... tia!

Check the bulbs if you can. Beyond that turn em in for a while in the garage and see if they heat up. If they get hot they’re NOT LED.
I looked at them off and on. Noted some text on the bottom that was like "directfire". Didn't leave them on long enough to see about the temp... Should have thought of that. Will do it next...

That’s the slow way though really. Should be a stamped number on them you can look up on the interwebs. Probably on the back or bottom portion.

LED Fog Lights
  • Multiple small LED emitters visible behind the lens
  • Very white light (around 5000-6000K)
  • Usually a projector-style or segmented appearance
  • No replaceable bulb socket on the back

Halogen Fog Lights
  • You'll see a single bulb/reflector setup
  • More yellow-ish light
  • Replaceable bulb in the back of the housing (typically H11/H16 style)

Rubicon models typically come with LED fog lights if equipped with the LED Lighting Group package... so if you have LED headlights and tail lights, it's a very good chance your fog lights are LED too. If you're still unsure after a visual check, any dealership should also be able to verify using the VIN.

IT has the LED lights. Window sticker lists all but the fog lights. From what I saw with them on just now am thinking LED... Only makes sense, but then... what auto mfg uses common sense... ;)

You should be able to tell by the light color itself. Halogens will have a yellow hue to it and the LED's will be a sharp white light. Also, if you look at the back of the light, you should be able to tell if there is a connector for a bulb, or if it's all one unit. One unit indicates LED, since there won't be a bulb to change.

Look in your owners manual and attempt to change the bulb. If there is no bulb, they are LED.
