Sounds like a similar crowd to what’s in my area. I went to one local “Jeep club” event and it turned out it was just a place for over 40 something’s to get wasted. Luckily it wasn’t a day they were running trails otherwise I could only imagine how dangerous that would have gotten. Decided I would stick to my solo adventures for now after that.
As an "over 40 something", the clubs are mostly just that, a clique of people that have been together for a long time and if you don't conform to the clique, you ain't in the club. More social than wheeling.

I've found that unless I know them well, and have a clear understanding of expectations, I don't wheel with anyone that trailers their Jeep. They aren't concerned about being able to drive home.

So true about the trailering. I need my Jeep to get to work on Monday. Paint damage and minor issues are fine but I can’t afford to lose an axle shaft/drive shaft for a Sunday funday.

I got the Mojave X for my reliable, don't mind to drive every day Jeep, but not to wheel off-road but for farms and lite trails. My Rubicon 4xe has never been fun to drive on the highway no matter what I do with it. But, I will drive it TO trails and be satisfied that I'm not passing tractor trailer trucks on the interstate at 75-80 miles and hour unless it's a bluebird calm day. I'll still have to drive it home afterwards regardless.

I'm also not going to pull a trailer with it loaded behind the Gladiator. But the Gladiator is great to drive anywhere else and I'm proud of it. Who knows? I may find a desert someplace and see what "Desert Rated" really means.

It means “You too, can bury your Jeep in the sand up to the pumpkins while trying to drive out and throwing sand above the roof resulting in sand in each and every orifice of the human body”. And laugh the whole time. :CWL:

I am so glad that I got my wheeling days behind me, well except for light wheeling.

We've never done much wheeling. Our Jeeps have always been used for inclement weather, work, and sometimes as a daily driver. Forest roads, BLM roads, and snow packed roads are about the most difficult/technical that we drive on.

Same. For the most part. When I lived in CO, I enjoyed off-roading, but it was always about the scenery and the destination. Epic camping spots, old mines, ghost towns, etc. I never enjoyed when the trails got more difficult than I had expected because it’s just not fun when you’re trying not to tear things up. Now all I do is drive around on our family farms, put in work there, drive on forest service road and the beach. I use 4wd more than most people, but I’m definitely not trying to prove anything. I’ve never damaged anything and would like to keep it that way.

In Moab we had some friends that drove in from Oklahoma and they smashed their rear driveshaft on Hells Revenge. They took it out completely and drove into town with front wheel drive 😄

The next morning they grabbed a used rear driveshaft from one of the local 4x4 shops and installed it in the hotel parking lot. Was barely late to the trail.

Still sucks though, lol.

Same. I really enjoyed my times out doing some technical / difficult wheeling in my two door but I don't think I'd get back heavy into it unless I had that two door back and was trailering it.

Nowadays I'm like you fellas. Scenery and low stress adventures. I depend on my truck too much anymore to over build it or beat it up offroad.

Before, I realized I was leaving CO, I almost bought a SxS and a trailer. I was tired of worried about beating up or breaking my DD. That would have been a lot more fun and they were a whole lot cheaper in 2013 than now.

I can't stop laughing at the ridiculous notion that an adult woman on the internet using her own sexuality to make money on her own terms is "disgusting". Absofuckinglutely absurd.

Maybe I'm just more enlightened or secure in myself but if my wife wanted to make money posing nude I'd be taking the pics for her and counting the cash myself.
Enlightened or secure is not how any man would describe selling his wife to the highest bidder wether just pictures or full on indecent proposal type situation. I wonder if she knows that he values her that little? I'll do a lot of things for a dollar but selling my wife or her dignity isn't one of them. Anybody who would puts too much value in money and not enough in their wife. Gross. (Yes I realize he already got banned but it's still gross).

No shock there............... so full of hate. Look at every one of his other posts - wow.

ON topic - my Jeep is because it does anything and everything I want. If I can take some fun trails - fine, but when it becomes too much work, then the enjoyment is gone. I also need to drive it back home when done.
I wish I had set up my phone to do a video of my very amateurish run at the crazy hills and turns and mud last fall, but hindsight - we know about that. It would have gotten at least a couple of laughs, but also proved to me - that thing stock is quite capable. What I got out of it was some fun, an "ok, me AND this rig can easily do that stuff, especially with a simple sway bar mod (which I hope to get at later this year after dust settles from other stuff).
It plows snow with great ease, takes nasty snowy, icy roads with ease, hauls my stuff, it's done all I've ever asked of it.

I have severe social anxiety so any trail run with many many dozens of people will not be my thing - I prefer smaller groups where there's a bit more team-work, smaller more helpful groups, and a Marine attitude - leave no man or woman behind.
You learn by failure, not by success, and if those around you forget that - screw 'em, don't need that type.

I’m no better than anyone. I was seeing red. How I handled it was better than they deserved. Again, in my opinion. They were drinking and looking for a fight. Screw that noise.
Man, this sucks. Sorry you had to deal with this BS. You have always been helpful to me so I hate hearing of this experience.
