Fox 2.0’s on Mojave?

I did spray silicone on the shafts w/ no luck but I just read today that applying silicone grease vs the spray might be a better option.

I used Danco 80360 Waterproof Silicone Grease, available at Home Depot. Jack up the chassis to extend the shocks, then thoroughly clean the exposed shafts and the areas around the dust seals. You'll need to remove the screws holding the plastic guards in place and raise the guards up to expose the shafts. After cleaning everything, apply the grease to the shafts and the dust seals. Then slowly let the suspension down, re-install the guards and let it sit overnight. That's what I did and it has eliminated the noise.

I replaced my rear Mojave shocks with Fox 2.5s and eventually will do the fronts. Then I will send the OEM shocks to have the serviced and custom tuned for my truck’s weight. When the 2.5s need service, I will switch them out. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I’ll give this a whirl and hopefully it works while I search for a new set of shocks!

That's a terrible idea. Sounds like a warranty repair. Dealer will decipher real issue, order you a new shock and/or bushing and fix in one day when the part comes in.

Def not a warranty issue. Plenty of stories on this forum with the same issue where dealership said they wouldn’t cover it.

Regardless of warranty or not, you buy a new jeep from a dealer, the vehicles maybe a 1.5 years old... that dealers gonna inspect and diagnose the issue for free. Not sure how it works where you live but that lack of service would kill any dealer in my neck of the woods. You toss 37's on it and bring it in covered in mud they may not help you as to be expected.

Regardless of warranty or not, you buy a new jeep from a dealer, the vehicles maybe a 1.5 years old... that dealers gonna inspect and diagnose the issue for free. Not sure how it works where you live but that lack of service would kill any dealer in my neck of the woods. You toss 37's on it and bring it in covered in mud they may not help you as to be expected.

There’s a reason why I didn’t specifically mention going to a dealership. Like I mentioned before, there are plenty of people on this forum dealing with the same issue that have been denied service even within the warranty period.

I’m also beyond the warranty period so I’m not gonna waste my time with the dealership when they have enough trouble changing the oil. Furthermore, there are better skilled shops in my area that can rebuild the shocks for cheaper and in less time.

My original post stated what was I not thinking of if I swapped out to Fox 2.0s. You say stupid. Awesome. Be specific.

Buying a Jeep is stupid. It’s horrible on gas. We slap on bigger tires and lights that make it worse. We participate in activities that accelerate the wear and tear. But we do it anyway. And if I had to do it all over again, I would bc it’s fun as shit.

I’m here to learn. Instead of just saying “take it to the dealer”, let’s have a specific conversation as to why I SHOULDN’T install 2.0s for the time the shocks are being rebuilt/serviced (even though I’ve already said I’m going to find a local dealer to rebuild them AND purchase a set of take-offs).

Go away. My 21 will be out of warranty in a month or two, and it doesn’t matter anyway. No dealer is getting anywhere near it unless the engine blows before 36k. Ever. Not for an oil change or tire rotation. Nothing.

I did not replace my rear shocks due to noise, but due to the load I carry and how it handled, I needed adjustables. But even if it was for noise, i have a 3” lift which means shock extenders if you use the factory shocks. I do not care how much extra we paid for the Mojave shocks, I want it to be right for what I do with it. I have extenders on the front now and do not like them, so they will gone soon.

And dealers in my area will not provide much help after the warranty expires and you have modded your jeep as much as many of us have. Maybe I need to journey to WI the next time I need something fixed outside of the warranty.
