Curious if anyone started with the MOPAR lift, and then realized they needed heavy springs and chose to go with AEV's HD springs, but keeping MOPAR lift components (control arms/shocks/etc.)

I tried a set of the AEV HD springs to replace the Rock Krawler ones on my lift. Front was pretty much unchanged height wise but definitely a firmer ride. Rears were just too tall. Even with the RTT, I was still almost 2 1/2" inches taller than before.

I liked the stance but it made putting anything into the bed miserable.. I finally pulled them off and went back to the RK ones.

Don't have a great shot of the JT with the AEV HD springs but the snow picture below shows how much more gap there is between tire and rear fenders....

Interesting. Ok so not including tires, how much lift did you get with the RK vs the AEV? I'm not familiar with the RK springs you have or how much over stock the lift is. Just to try and guesstimate how much lift over stock the AEV springs gave.

Also curious how much weight you have in your bed. I'm probably going to be heavier than you with canopy, RTT, steel rear bumper and rear winch, gear, LRA fuel tank, etc.. It is interesting to hear how tall they were though. Great feedback! Thats one of my biggest concerns, I really dont' want 3+ inches of lift, but at the same time need to make sure springs can handle the extra weight.

I suspect with all that gear you'll be fine with the AEV HD springs. Your load sounds more like what AEV is talking about for HD. I really only have the RTT and spare in the bed. Camping adds a big Yeti but otherwise we aren't heavily loaded. I do have the LOD Destroyer rear bumper... it's definitely not light.

So .. as for the lift. The RK is a 3" lift and it gave me 3 1/4" inches in the front, 2 1/2" in the back (with the rack and RTT). With the AEV HD I had the same measurements in the front, but the rear was 2 3/4" higher.

In absolutely terms, measuring from the bottom lip of the wheel (not the tires...) to the bottom edge of the fenders, the rears went from 35 1/4" to 38".

Great info, this is really helpful. Thank you ?
