Freedom Panel Bag Solution

Just wanted to share a fix for one of the few issues I've had with my JT. Prior to my JT, I drove a JKU that had a few battle scars and more than a few scratches on the freedom panel tops and therefore I had no issues popping them off and throwing them in the back. I do not want to scratch the tops on the JT so I've been struggling with how to utilize the storage bag. I often want take the tops off on my way home from work but also have 2 kids and 1 that still uses a carseat that stays in my back seat. I have no room to keep the storage bag in the back seat and therefore it isn't available when I want to take my tops off after I'm already out and about. Long story long, I removed the styrofoam inserts in the bottom of the bag and was able to fold it up and store it behind the back seat. Now I can pop the tops off any time I'm away from home and still have the bag to keep them in to prevent scratches.

Yea that would be nice! I just haven't prioritized the bed cover yet. I still have a few more things on my list before I get to that.

What about the space under the seat? That's where I keep my bag when not in use, and it fits (barely) with the Styrofoam inserts in place. I actually find that the inserts hold the panels in place nicey as well, though the proper placement was a little tricky to sort out at first.

The carseat has to stay on the passenger side rear seat because my legs are too long and little man doesnt have room behind me. So the only access I have is either behind or below the seat on the driver side which is the small one. I barely have room for my jumper cables and shammy cloth.

Sweet i ordered a sport s with freedom 3 piece. where were the bags in the truck? also what else should i look for upon delivery

It was in a plastic bag in the back seat. You'll see why I started this thread when u get it. It's very cool and helps keep the tops from getting damaged but its huge and if you dont have a bed cover then there's nowhere to store it really. I cant think of anything else to look for upon delivery.

fwiw, I don't feel comfortable laying them down, on their side in the bed ( even in the bag ); seems to me like they'll still incur some scratching/buffing. When we're out and take off the freedom panels, we fold up the rear seats and leave the bottom of the bag in that cubby under the seats. From there, we put the tops in the bag accordingly and tilt the bag forward to the front seats. Then to keep the bag from flopping around, take 1 of the rear seats and allow it to fold forward and rest on the zipped up bag.

If you want to have rear passengers, and be able to open up the front, then I would totally recommend the BestTop.

That's why there's the black felt to lay on between the two panels. Mine get scratched more on the trails than in the bag.

I’m more concerned with the paint matched sides. Any kind of dry rubbing on paint and clear coat is a big no-no. I can’t speak to the black, non-paint-matched freedom panels, I don’t know what their outer surface is made out of.

Second the Sunrider, 20 seconds to open, 20 seconds to close. No bag, no lifting, no storing.

Crap, is that rain, slow to below 35, flip lock and keep driving. I do wish they offer some color options though.
