Ok I ordered the filter housing. I'm sure I'll have to figure out how to mount it. I ordered it from here for $285 with a discount code ROADTRIP.

Those fuel lines are tight where it currently is and the added length of that filter is, almost certainly, gonna hang below the frame rails. I look forward to seeing your solution. I still hate changing my fuel filter, diesel all over the garage floor every time…

I've got Metalcloak skids with the trap door for filter changes. If I can't raise the filter mount high enough I'm gonna get creative with the mig welder.

The fittings are -8AN so it doesn’t necessarily have to stay in the current location,

Update: I emailed Fleece about the heater kit for it and they replied that it hasn’t been released yet but they let me order it anyway. Price is $148 plus shipping. I’ll post up when it all arrives.

How does the heater work, is it a 12V heating element?

Yes, the OEM filter housing has a heater in it along with the water in fuel sensor. I probably don’t need it where I live but I do make trips to Colorado and its absence may make the BCM/ECU unhappy. Besides I guess I signed up to be the Guinea pig on this so 🤷🏻‍♂️.

I just did the IRO relocation bracket, it does what it sez it does and gets the filter out of the way and cleans up a lot random crap jeep add they called "protection"

I did make a bracket to support the fuel line to replace the plastic shield that was doing the job, also didn't like how close the fuel flow? sensor was to the underside of the chassis.

I am also screwing around with bending up a 1/4" plate to span from the frame rail to the transfer case skid to be a skid plate for the filter and protect it from roost and rocks.

@Gregj
Any updates on filter housing? I have a two-week vacation trip coming up and truck needs a filter change before I leave. I don't want to create a problem for myself if the install isn't smooth though.

I received the filter and the heater Thursday but haven’t had time to do anything with it yet, too many projects on the plate right now. Hope to work on it this weekend. It is a very nice looking unit. Initial impression is it will fit in the stock location without the water in fuel sensor. The sensor adds about an inch to the height of it. As noted I’ll need to make a simple bracket to rotate it 90 degrees. The housing has two sets of bolt holes in it for two different mounting heights. If there’s interest I’ll post some pics with a tape measure.

So I popped off the Metalcloak skid trap door and took some measurements. If I build a bracket to mount the housing with the inlet/outlet line looking at the stock fittings and raise it to bottom of cab there should be plenty of room., outstanding!

You ordered everything straight from Fleece?

I ordered the filter from Only in stock but you have to call Fleece to order the heater. I took the cover off mine and looked at it and I think it will fit under the cover I just need to come up with a bracket setup to rotate the mounting surface for the housing. Currently the mount bolts are at the front of the “pod” and they need to be facing inwards so the hoses face the rear. There is another connector on the OEM filter housing I need to figure out what it is, the heater and WIF sensor are in one plug.
