What do you guys think the future holds for the gladiator?
New colors? More models like Willy's or Moab? Dealer optioned graphics? Lower price?
yeah i like both of those pakages as far as looks, it would be cool if they offered a rear locker option with one of those

Well if we're dreaming, 3" lift and 40's from the factory! Maybe Dana 60's front and rear! Need I continue.....

Realistically I expect minimal design changes for a while. Except for the magical diesel potentially materializing they are still trying to figure out long term sales on a vehicle that hasn't existed for 6 months and the next model year is a 2021 (remember this is still 2019). Now I would fully expect to see a 2 door extended cab show up at some point with a 6 foot bed (no way they will put a 6 foot bed on the 4 door as it is about as long as my avalanche). Right now they have issues just getting enough stock on the showroom floors since there are still people waiting for their launch editions based upon the posts you see here in the forums. While the gladiator statistically is doing well in sales it hasn't been on the market long enough to justify new generation changes. Surprisingly I have started running into wrangler owners trying to tell me why they wouldn't buy a gladiator because the wrangler is "better". As we all know cars/trucks are a hot and cold market and we have all seen models we love over the years get pulled from production because the sales weren't producing and we still have the jeep purists who get mad because the wrangler isn't completely square with a fully flat windshield.

I love this truck more than my wranglers which truly surprises me and I am looking forward to see where they go with it. I think there are some ways to improve it (removable back window for hard tops, proximity sensor on tailgate, 2 door options, soft top that goes all the way down, etc). I just think other than a "willy's edition" or something like that I don't think it will be any time soon we see a JT-2.0.

Yes, this is the stuff that matters. Upgraded steering components and larger brakes would also be worthwhile options, also builtin firm ware that allows tire and gearings changes.

A month ago there were over 400 Gladiators for sale at dealers here in SoCal with some dealers having more than six Launch Editions on their lots at one time.

I think Jeep is being smart and walking before they run. I believe the diesel could have been out months ago but how many are going to pony up another 5k on an already costly mid-size truck? Jeep and non Jeep people that i have talked to all agree that the Gladiator is an expensive truck in it`s current offering.

Let the sticker shock wear off for awhile and i think sales should increase over the next year or two, adding more models now will only increase MSRP and add confusion to would be Jeep truck owners.

I for one would gladly wait and order a diesel model with fewer options to keep the price reasonable. I'd go Sport S with Max tow over a Rubicon, if it meant I could get the diesel!

In addition to the diesel there has also been a report on another site that Jeep is testing a turbo straight six with a significant bump in power /torque.

I would also like to see an extended cab with a 6 foot bed.

There won’t be a lower price or a 2-door. The upcoming Dakota will cover that ground. There will be more special editions. Colors will change each year. Jeep is very predictable in many ways.

That is a good point about competing with Dodge. Probably isn't something they want to do too much of. I think they really just wanted to give jeep enthusiast's a truck option. But I do think they priced it a touch too high. I saw a poll online "would you pay 50k for a Gladiator?" 90% said no. I think 430 people had voted at the time.
Im not sure who is buying them, Wrangler folks, non Wrangler folks or what.
Sadly I don't think the price will move too much, my local dealer is keeping inventory low but selling what they have. Kind of intentionally keeping supply low maybe?
Either way it is fun to speculate. =)

Jeep really doesn't change much in a model season. The JK got a new interior in 2011 and a new engine in 2012. But it came out in 2007 and ran Exterior unchanged for 10 years. Dont expect much difference anytime soon. Plus any special editions will likely just be stickers like always
