You can use a Cordless drill to wind the winch for you on your L E Vator.

Never heard of that company. Looks like they have some nice products. That Swivel Lift looks interesting as well

yeah i thought of that, but i actually think i'm going to leave the hand crank on it. One less thing I need on the hunt.

I will be putting a drill adapter on my deer hoist at home in the backyard.

First mod, I didn't use the center rear hole on the winch, the handle still doesn't hit the black cross bar. i probably could have drilled a new hole up front too to get the handle even closer to the crossbar, but i didn't want to take the time.

P.S. Those are super warm and comfortable slippers. =)

2ND mod, I changed out most of the hardware that used pins with cotterpins instead with those 5/16" bolts with lock nuts. Nothing is TIGHT, just close (a nice feature of nylon locknuts. The included hardware made everything a bit sloppy. I have to buzz off the ends of the bolts. Needed something like 2.25", but all they had were 2" or 2.5". no biggie.

I've seen photos/reviews from people where the cable on their reel is all jacked up and they have issues with it not working right, or dropping eratically when they unwind it. It helps to put some weight on the platform when unwinding it. I pulled out all the cable, and re-wound it pretty tight. The crank was loud in the living room at 10pm, so I didn't futz with it more. Also you can see how canting the winch slightly it has a better angle at the platform its lifting.

The cable may rub a little bit but it should be alright. Also i'm thinking when I re-wind the cable a 2nd time i'll wind most of the excess on the left side of the reel instead of evenly across it(like i believe you're suppose to), then when I crank up the last 3 feet with a deer on the platform, the cable will have a tendency to stay to the right (or so I think) and not come in contact with the black cross bar.

The first one that came must have been dropped off a truck, because compared to this one, it was all beat up. I'm actually happy with the quality. Much nicer finish than i would have come up with, lighter, less expensive. If I made one of these, I might use heavier gauge tubes. I'll let you know if we give it a workout next week in Michigan.

Does it need that much cable on the reel? I'm thinking if it was shorter it wouldn't bid up in itself.
Just a thought.

Definitely doesn't need that much cable, I thought about cutting some excess off. If I have time before Friday, maybe I will.

Have you got a front winch?
What if you let out enough cable, throw it over a tree limb, winch up the deer, drive under it, then lower it down into the bed?

My luck I’d plan the whole thing out in my head (see above) then go 0for the whole season.

apologies if these photos are against policy.

got to try out the L E Vator on Wednesday. Happy Day before my Birthday present to me!

Couple of things.

1, i've been told by several that this is a big buck for Upper Michigan.

2, the L E Vator was a snap to deploy and lifted the deer to height. I wasn't alone and we had access to a honda side by side so Gladys didn't have to get bloody, but i insisted we use the L E Vator anyway.

3. if you're worried about your antlers getting dinged up, cut pieces of garden hose and shove them on there.

4. i could have gotten the buck and doe I shot in the truck with gate closed had I not been carrying a bunch of other crap, it was just easier to leave his head out.

5. these nite ize orange rubber ties are awesome https://www.amazon.com/Nite-Ize-Ori...4&sr=1-1-5e875a02-02b1-4426-9916-8a5c26cd5a14.
I used them to mark blood tracking spots and secure cargo. I highly recommend them.

6. This knife is great. SWINGBLAZE, no more making a "V" with my fingers and risking cutting myself when gutting a deer. I even used the non pointed gut "hooking" side to cut the esophagus. Less risk of stabbing myself while bicep deep in the chest cavity. https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Edge...d=1&keywords=swingblade&qid=1606018328&sr=8-1

7. last tip, use shoulder length cow OB gloves with 2 normal nitrile/latex (i prefer the black widow nitrile gloves) gloves over them when field dressing. you can get into the chest of a deer you want to cape easily WITHOUT cutting the ribcage.

Congrats on a successful hunt! I got this young buck right before the rain.
I like field dressing with the animal vertical. Much better hunting with a JT than my old JK.
