Before being laid off the engineers should be required to do oil cooler and valve cover gasket replacements on a Promaster.
plus stopping Promaster cowl leaks and getting those rusted upper manifold intake screws out

We have a fleet of them where I work. Never have I seen such a smoking pile of excrement. . Makes me rethink buying my JT and JL at times knowing they are built by the same fine folks.

This is nation-wide across all industries. Not looking great for economy. Buy your bullion now folks, better to have tangible wealth than money as useful as toilet paper when the ship sinks

…. Stellantis is off loading their engineer to Mexico and India.
That’s highly likely. When I was a Data Analyst in the telecom industry, 10-15 years ago, AT&T had large engineering teams in Bratislava, Slovakia. They produced quality work. The sub-contractor for whom I worked was entirely USA-based as far as our worksites were concerned, but my Six Sigma mentor was in the Philippines.
‘Tis a global economy…

As much as I hate to admit it, thats why I put off purchasing my JT from mid-2020 to 2023. It took +$10k off the sticker price to lure me back.
10K? Try 18K for my deal in December. I did the same as you and I didn't buy back in 19 because I thought they were overpriced and not terribly dog friendly so I got a 2018 Renegade they couldn't get rid of and actually really liked it for a daily driver but it would NOT go to places I want to go here In MT just a few miles away. I also got 6K equity on the trade for the Renegade AND 30% off. When they did that, I said, OK now we are talking. I'm about six weeks away from my first foray into four wheel drive country here in MT considering the five inches of snow we got last night...

I'll wait on the bullion. I'm not spending 2200 bucks an oz.

Based on the way the COVID pandemic went, toilet paper is probably the smarter investment…

In reality though, if post-apocalyptic movies have taught us anything, it’s more likely that food stores, water, gasoline and ammunition are what the currency will be after the collapse. What am I going to do with gold bullion when the stores don’t exist anymore and anyone who I might trade gold for goods to just wants to kill me and take anything I might have…

Heck I remember thinking back in 1974, geez, I wish I had some money, I'd buy gold just before it went legal again and was still about 36 bucks an oz... It went to 158 bucks an oz the day it was legal again... But alas, I was poor and going into the Marines... And now it has hit almost 2200 bucks.

Edit - I still don't have any money...

In 2016, I almost bought Bitcoin.
But it had shot up to $900
so I passed on it.

In the '90s I bought stock in a gold mine.
Then gold went from $800 to $500.

Back on topic, as if exporting jobs is not bad enough
the H-1B and H-2B visa programs allowing foreign nationals
to work in the U.S. has been expanded.

Good news, bad news:
Not all jobs have moved overseas.
Many companies have merely moved operations
from forced unionism states
to right to work states.

It is not like Stellantis or any other legacy ICE auto maker has a choice at this point to be a hold out not embracing EV.

Somebody has to stop the insanity. You don't just float on the river when you see Niagra Falls up ahead.
