Gladiator Purchase - Adding Bed Outlet and Locking Underseat Storage

Hi Everyone,

I am starting the process of purchasing a gladiator and have a pretty good deal lined up. I am pretty dead set on the Bed Outlet and Lockable Underseat Storage, however the dealership cannot add these options as Mopar does not sell them. Has anyone had experience adding the OEM Bed Outlet and OEM Lockable Underseat Storage? I'm concerned about the difficulty of installing the Bed Outlet myself (specifically with reprogramming the computer) and I haven't been able to find the OEM 2024 lockable underseat storage.

Has anyone done either of these installs or have suggestions on how I might get my dealership to do this for me prior to purchase?

There's cooler options for the underseat storage you can do easily enough. 813 Fabrication makes one, off the top of my head.

A few of us have put our own bed power in. I have an AMZN-sourced 4-box that has 12V x2, a double USB, and volt meter.

I believe adding the bed outlet requires changing one of the wiring harnesses (not 100% sure) since it will also need the inverter. It is something that many have done, but may be an advanced project.

Adding the MOPAR locking box is pretty easy. Since it did not come with the truck you will have to have the dealership rekey the lock on the box to match the key for your truck. If you want an aftermarket solution for Underseat Storage, I have a few options to choose from. Let me know if I can help you out.

If you have the factory inverter, then it's relatively easy to add the bed outlet - I've done it myself.

You may have already done this, but if not, do a search and you may find one even if it's a ways away. Some dealers are willing to ship etc.

I've been going through this for a while. I wanted what isn't as common as you'd think. Cargo Group (bed power, bed cover, trail rails, under seat lockable storage) I didn't care about the storage since there's better aftermarket options, but the storage is pretty secure, by locking the seats.

The other thing I think should be part of that group is, bedliner. It's amazing how many optioned out trucks that have the $2k Cargo Group don't have factory bedliner (about $500).

I did find a few, hours or more away, but also had a couple local, but some dealers order some weird option combo's.

During this hunt, I found that you can get the bed power parts, all Mopar, from a few sources, anywhere from about $300 to $500 just for the parts. I found a Youtube video of someone doing it and it really wasn't that bad. For me, the worst is taking the dash apart for the front half of the harness to the switch, modifying a connector then flashing the ECM to activate it.

We picked up ours yesterday and after months+ of shopping and dealing with dealers (who I think are the real problem with sales...unbelievable) As I was unstrapping the Sunrider Top (boxed and strapped in the bed at factory) I made her come around and look at the power outlet in the bed, and smiled. She shook her head. LOL

If you end up needing to install it, search the forums, I'm sure this is where several sources have been posted, but do a internet search for the parts in a kit also.

I found a video showing removal of the left dash, but I didn't see the required plug on the harness like the 2023 and older JTs have which makes me hesitant to move forward.

The plug on the harness is "most likely" there attached to the headlight switch. On mine the harness plug was tucked back into the dash but I was able to grab it and finesse it thru the headlight switch dash cutout using some needle nose pliers and gentle pulling. It was taped to the headlight switch wire harness about where it starts to come thru the dash. I assume the 24's are still the same.

Contact Benny at @AllMoparParts.com with your VIN number. They sell a kit for around $300 with the parts needed to add the bed outlet. You do need to have the factory installed inverter and the outlet on the back of the center console in order to add the bed outlet.

You can order the entire 110v bed outlet kit from these guys. You might save a little money if you try purchasing the items individually from different dealers to get the best price but not much.

Thanks for the responses! Just a heads up, the 2024 Gladiators seem to be at least a little different. My JT Rubicon X has a trim piece that already has the cut out and plate with a Jeep and Gladiator on it covering the area for the cargo plug switch right under the lighting controls - and that trim piece has some stitching on it, the trim piece in these kits does not.

It also appears I may not need to disassemble the entire dash to get that panel out on the 2024 model based on a video I found, but that video does not show the plug that is necessary for the new switch... so I'm hoping they didn't delete that plug from the harness for the 2024's. My truck does have the 400w inverter and plug in the back of the center console, just missing the bed plug. I'll need to take it all apart to find out for sure.

I'm chatting with @AllMoparParts.com in a private message to sort out what's needed for the 2024s - at least for the Rubicon X, not sure on other trim levels. Benny is working on making a new package to match what I need without that trim piece.

Yep, I've got that! I wonder why that one is 120v and the one in the bed would be 115v? Or is the one on the back of the console actually also 115?

A question or two about the inverter and the outlet being used in the bed.

First off, I have 2021 Rubicon and I believe I have the 110V outlet in the center console in the back...(I'm away from home and my Jeep and never needed it yet, nor noticed it)...can you not tap into the wiring that feeds that outlet and run a 110V line to the bed? That would eliminate a fair bit of wiring, right? And it would be subject to the OEM protections of the power source.

Other question; what is a suitable outlet to use in that little plastic cover in the bed? I was originally going to just do a USB outlet for charging phones etc, but I have a plug in fridge that will go good in there and a 110V outlet would be most versatile.
