After the new steering box, Synergi Track bar, new stablizer and asking the dealer what could I do next they say to lift it….. my vehicle is wandering stock and the dealer recommended to lift it to improve the driving on highway speeds. I’m not one to throw more money at something to fix it, considering the Launch Edition was over 60k. Has a lift helped people with wandering issues?

After reading some other forums, I am purchasing adjustable control arms to help the geometry. I went with Terraflex the full set alpines. Fingers crossed!

Caster is really low, you should aim for 5.5 to 6 either using adjustable control arms or geometry correction brackets if you lift your JT You could add the Mopar lower control arms to your stock JT they will get it close to where you want to be.

I had wander issues with my 2020 when I bought it used this past January. Chalked it up to a Jeep Thing. Did the steering gear recall then put a Rough Country levling kit on with the synergy Track Bar. Then I had not only wander but Death Wobble at 55+mph. I then added the Mopar factory 2" lift Lower Control Arms. They're a 1/4" longer than stock. That seemed to fix a lot of the wander but still had the DW. Finally bit the bullet and put in the Synergy Tie Rod, Drag Link set and longer front shocks to get rid of the shock spacers. I then took it to my sons' shop for an alighment. Set it up as follows:

Total toe = .33 degrees
Checked Caster (non-adjustable, just the Mopar LCA's) = 5.1 (Driver) and 5.0 (Passenger) degrees
Didn't bother with a camber check

It now has no noticable wander and no DW.
I also heard that Jeep is instructing their techs to set total toe at .35 degrees.

I also put in the Exact Center Stabilizer from Roadmaster. That helped a lot too to keep it centered on the road.

IMO, you're low on both caster and total toe.

When $ allows, I plan on going to adjustable LCA's and push caster out to around 6 degrees.

Yeah, that caster is lower than mine was!

Updated alignment after the Control arms! The ride is so much softer! Drives like a Mojave almost, but the lift I’m sure will change that lol. After I wear the Wildpeaks down, I will be getting the mopar 2 inch lift and 35’s. I think I will stick with Falkens as well I enjoyed these quite a bit!

22 JTRD build march of 22 totally stock 1000 road miles an this B!!CH is a handful to drive and all over the road and im 54 and drove old farm trucks in the day and 53 ford tractor that drove better . I've had many solid axle rigs and all drove fine except this one . I get no immediate movement when I move the wheel and feels like a 30 year old car with a worn steering box . I have adjusted the box a couple of times about a 10th of a turn each time and it is better . Adjust at your own risk you have been warned . You can throw every part in the book at it but with a crappy adjustment on the gear it will never not wander at least in my opinion . I marked mine so if I want it back stock I can do that also . I'll watch this thread to see your fixxes .
My new 2022 is almost the opposite. Zero play. Move the wheel and the truck responds NOW. If I lean to one side for any reason and my hand moves - the truck wants to turn.
It's almost as if it has a quicker ratio but it doesn't - takes the same turns parking or making corners, it's just that when you move that wheel the truck responds.
I suspect mine would be helped with some caster - it's almost like a vehicle with no caster. But there's no play, that's for sure.

Hey Shadowspapa . I'm hoping the incremental adjustments will help and I marked it so can always go back stock then hit with my industrial gloss black and then take it in but I don't want surgery on a brand new truck . Not throwing in the towel I want to love this truck . At least I know I can get there just how many moves . Thanks for the input .

Ian
You can get there.......... my 2020 had the steering gear replaced twice. After the second one, it was fine. In fact, my wife actually liked driving it after the second time. (and she's used to her Grand Cherokee)
