This is a 25 Wrangler, but it's not just Jeep.
All makers are getting worse and worse about not letting you run the vehicle because some $15 part or a loose wire throws everything into FUBAR mode.

But this one made wonder - when does someone get way out there on an off-road trek, or even just driving during bad weather on a remote road, and get stranded by an electronic glitch, but with an otherwise healthy and capable drivetrain that could have gotten them to safety?

What's that lawsuit going to look like?

Is it time for a simple button on the dash that says, "Lie to the computer and tell it everything's fine, so I can get TF home!"

In this day and age, if you're not carrying some kind of GPS rescue beacon when you go far enough out that you could die if stuck, then your death is solely on you.

Equipment failure is a risk in every outdoor activity. It up to you to be prepared

Reasons to have a Tazer and NoLimitz module w/ Jscan. I can literally disable half the shit on the Starhub and my truck will have No ABS, TC, SC, TSC, nothing. 90s barebone truck. Had my ABS module fail on trail and slap me in limp mode. Deactivated it and boom no limp mode. Shut up and drive bypass basically.

And that is why I carry my bypass cable, BT adapter, and phone and tablet with JSCAN and AlfaOBD on them....... doesn't matter if it's not in the wilderness, I can handle most simple things and get back home.
We carry a winch, straps, shovel, jack, and a bunch of tools - well, those are also tools. I don't leave home without them.

Should have tried the "universal fix" for any computer.....cycle power. Disconnect battery. Touch negative/positive together to drain any residual power from system.

You guys are the anomalies. Surely you know that 99% have no clue. I mean, look no farther than the "Jeep Guy" in the video.
Your knowledge and equipment are not the rul. You're the exceptions.
The tow truck driver knew it, but he didn't.
And yes, he was damned lucky that it died on a less busy 2 lane with a decent shoulder at hand.

So I want to jump in and steal the thread a little, but it is related.

I have had my 2020 JTR completely loose throttle a few times on climbs. Luckily I made it over the obstacle but could have caused sever damage by getting stuck in a bad way.

What happened to me was during a simple climb all throttle just died but the jeep didn't shut off like it was starved for fuel like a bad pump or filter it just losses the ability to accelerate. I pumped and floored the pedal and very slowly gained some movement again but acted like it was locked at 1200rpm. 4wd hi and low in D and manual mode. anyone else experience this? anyway to shut this fucking stupid shit off or what it is even called?

A dead Jeep should not rise to the level of a life threatening event, regardless of location.

I carry two Garmin personal locator beacons…AND a go bag in my jeep that will take care of me and my wife for 2 weeks…more if we ration food in the pack. In our mid 60’s, we stay in shape so we can hike and can take care of ourselves in an emergency situation In the desert or mountains.

dead jeep is an inconvenience, not a death sentence…

And I think a lot are commenting without watching the full video.
Tazer can't fix a crappy connector pin in the harness.
No but my bucket of odds and ends could once I found the issue. Who cares if it's cut and spliced out there.
But nothing escapes a good radio.
ANY vehicle can die anywhere and leave you stuck. Fuel pumps can stop working, that sort of thing (dead fuel pump on my Javelin now, waiting for a new one)

He just wants clicks. Sensors fail. Oh well. And it’s pretty well known that one problem can generate lots of codes that aren’t the problem.

I watched until he finally revealed that. And you’re right of course.
