To the OP on this one. Sorry on drifting off the thread. Back to the bad news problems of 3.6 or other stuff. I hope for resolving of this failure (point) as it's not been just one off happening. But a off and on over multiple years and platforms the 3.6 has been used in not all but common to be a regular happening.
I've got a second hand of (a retired OEM technician "mechanic") of this being a regular fail point of the 3.6 across engines platforms. The guy is friends with one of my friends who recently bought a JK for a good price. Low mileage ect with the rattling. The engine rattling away, the fix is the common one still heard. I'm not implying the 3.6 (or the diesel) is a total P.O.S. but it definitely has had a few problems in same area happening across years. Replacement of right side cam rockers, ect. The friend of mine is one who will throw the money in to fix it even if it ends up replacing the complete engine... His OCD is even a scratch requires it fixed if not replacing the thing that's damaged.
Might be a few others around here like that too. 🤔 ;):like: I can live with scratches and looking rough but a death rattling engine not so much.

Jk has a different 3.6 with different cams and intake followers. If you use the latest followers, the jk issue is resolved. Different causes not related to our JT cam woes.
Pre-pug it's resolved, pug it is not.

True, but a similar thing and not as common as it seems like. We both know that it's not a large number of problem 3.6 engines across the various platforms but "bad news" sells. AKA grabs attention.

And people who don't know better make it worse by saying "it's a known problem since 2012" and even that stupid law suit lumps all of them in together as if it's the same root cause. That's the internet for you.

I have not checked in on this thread for a while.

I called the Service Adviser about a week ago. The word from her is they are still waiting on a remanufactured engine, which is on back order. She could not give me any ETA.

I don't mind driving my trail jeep around, but it is getting a bit frustrating.

Supply chain issues are still really bad. My 2015 Ram 1500 has been in the body shop for 4 months waiting on backordered parts. I just received a text message today from the body shop manager saying that the rest of the parts should arrive next Thursday.

Back in the old days, we’d pull the engine, rebuild it, put it back in. Dealership service these days don’t need know what that means

I am wondering if the dealer is bound by the warranty, as to which company they get the motor from?

I have the truck back today. Just shy of 3 months.

I opened the hood and checked all the fluids before I left the dealer.

When I took the truck to the dealer on 12/23/2025, the truck was filthy. I did not have a chance to wash it before I took it in. It was still dirty when I picked it up.

When I opened the hood to check the fluids, I could hear the fans on my ARB air compressor running. The switch was on. I do not think I left it on. Oh well.

When I got home, I could smell coolant. I hope that is not going to be a problem.

Some mechanics are only going to do the bare minimum, so it does not surprise me they did not wash the engine bay up.

You might also be smelling just normal spilt fluids from the engine swap that is burning off with the engine coming to temp. I would suggest monitoring the coolant but expect it may needing a top off or two in the coming weeks as it 100% burps out.
