For those of you that have owned or own both, is there any noticeable difference in the rear seat room between the two? I know according to the specs, there is none. But with other manufacturers, SUV counterparts always *felt* bigger in the back. Maybe it was the open air behind you vs a window. Maybe the ability to recline the seat vs fixed. Some, despite spec same spec numbers, were in actuality bigger (ie Tacoma vs 4Runner).

Just wondering if this was the case with the JT/JL.

Thanks.

You might notice a touch more "perceived" space in the JL since the rear window isn't right there, but it isn't real or usable. In reality it's a wash just like the stats suggest.

I've had a 2019 JLU and now my 2021 JT. I can't say it felt like one had any more, or less back seat room than the other.

As back seat comfort goes the JT isn't bad. Way better than the wife's 2021 Cherokee.

There is a small difference. JLU rear legroom is measured at 35.7 inches. JT is measured at 38.3 inches.

Considering this is all based on where the front seats are positioned, a difference of about 2 and a half inches isn't really much to talk about though.... Maybe for someone else it is?

I had a JL and I felt there was more room. My passengers immediately felt like I had more room in the JL. I honestly liked my JL more than my JT as far as the cabin space and feel. It felt much bigger.

Stats wise. They're probably the same, but it's the perception of it.

I will keep the JT because I can use the bed and it's more convenient. The JT feels more stable on road with the longer wheelbase. The transmission differences were way more important to me. Off road, the JL was better. The departure angle really makes a major difference.

Really sums up the JT vs. JL.

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully I can go for extended test drives with the kids in the back with both vehicles.

I don't know how large your kids are. Mine are early teens and both about 5' tall. They had more then enough room. They actually loved it because the belt line on the windows is so so low. My youngest could actually see out straight and level for the first time in her life.

One thing to also remember if you care about back seat comfort is that the leather cars have a center armrest, the cloth or Katzkin ones don't.

We have both...
My wife drives a jlu and I've got a jt

Space is the same
But I drove her jlu to the dealership yesterday and even in the front seat I percieved it to feel larger.
I feel it has to do with location of the back glass

How about we measure and settle this?

Here’s the JT with front seat all the way back and no recline on the seat.

The JT is supposed to have 3" more rear seat room than the JL.

I noticed it when looking at both on the dealer lot.
I have only been told that same thing, but I dont have any personal experience, Ive never been in the back of a JL.

My buddies have JL's though, and they always comment the rear feeling like it has more space. For whatever that's worth.

My 10 year old says our JL is way more comfortable. He chooses it over the JT every time he has a choice.
