Too many years have gone by with my handguns stored in a bag here and a bag there or the OEM case. When I took one or two of them out to the range I'd find that some of the supplies or tools I needed were in one of the other bags or cases... at home. So, I decided to get organized.

I purchased an Apache 4800 case while they were on sale at Harbor Freight. I plucked and cut the foam in the case to hold 4 handguns, at least 4 magazines for each and a small toolkit that has all the tools needed for each firearm.

Here is the before and after pics of the case customization. Never mind the empty slot...that will be filled shortly.

I got lucky and married a lady that loves my jeep and guns. On our last trip she asked if I packed the gun. I said "yes, I have one" (which I always do) and she said "just 1? Let's take 2!.

5.56, 100-round, dual-drum magazine
used by the South Korean armed forces.
The pistol is actually in 300 Blackout
with a 10.5 inch barrel
and mocked up just for the picture.
The night vision is a crude Gen 1 version.
"Arm braces" are mired down in the courts.

When I was in the Army in 1969
I qualified Sharpshooter with an M-16
and though I served 2-1/2 years
during the Vietnam Era
I was never in Vietnam.
An important distinction.

Lastly, I have never fired this AR-15 pistol
or my .223 AR-15 rifle.
But I thought I would purchase and assemble
this outrageous combination while I still could.

A new Springfield Hellcat RDP followed me home on Monday. I added the optic Wednesday and hope to get out to the range tomorrow.

I like the Echelon. It has a good trigger, it fits my hand well, adding the optic was a necessary tweak (old eyes) but the performance took a big step after I added the compensator, a lower rated spring and the heavier guide rod.

I am just a bit over 200 rounds on it, comped & uncomped, to date.

Surprised I missed this thread when it originally came out.

Here is random pic of my overflow rack because my safe is a mess and I really need to get rid of a few but cannot bring myself to it.

I own a medium size printing company.
Hey, check out the videos on youtube of guys taking pick n pluck foam in gun cases and using Plasti Dip spray on em. I tried it and liked it. Makes it way more durable.

I’ve been there too, and it can be such a hassle when you’re trying to grab the right tool or mag only to find it’s in another bag. A while back, I took a similar approach and got one of those modular cases to better organize my gear. I customized it with foam cutouts for each of my handguns and even made space for extra accessories and tools I always seem to need at the range. I found it makes a huge difference in keeping everything in one spot and accessible. I noticed your before and after pics, and it’s a solid setup! I’ve been checking out some customization tips on huskyarmory.com as well. They’ve got some neat ideas for making sure everything fits just right.
