If you don’t want to spend the cash on a pro tripod pick up a regular camera tripod, cut a piece of 2” PVC in half, line it with some of the many pieces of packing foam that are laying around and cover it with duct tape. You can attach the PVC to the detachable camera mount with a bolt. Just have to check the size for whatever tripod you have. Your sling should be your stabilizer. Loop it from the front eyelet through the leg of the tripod then cinch down with offhand for shooting. With tripod the off hand shouldn’t be on the weapon anyway. It works for a good field expedient tripod that isn’t as costly if it gets lost or broken.

I have a smaller / cheaper BOG tripod that's good for sitting on the ground / in a blind. The Deathgrip I want, you can clamp the rifle into so that's nice when being lazy and just leaving the rifle in place 😂

I have a cheap camera tripod, so that's a good idea regardless for setting up an extra when needed.

When I do not feel like
loading up and lugging the Sniper Seat
I have used a BOG tripod
and folding camp chair.
Light combination easy to pack in
and set up.
Mine does not have the clamp
but I can hang the rifle on it by the sling
if I need to take a break.

Here, my M1 Garand with Scout Scope
and varmint light hangs ready
on overwatch over a dead hog
awaiting darkness and coyotes.

I’ve fired MANY rounds off a setup like that using one of the Garand style leather slings.

I was finally able to source a original WW1 BAR forend and stock for our OOW BAR A3. My son did a WW1 doughboy impression over the Christmas break at Greenfield Village.

Also, I was able to replicate a WW2 "in theater" modification by certain Marine units with a vertical foregrip for added stability for our WW2 Marine impressions. Thought it came out well.

A couple of photos from the Ohio 2025 Re-enactment he was part of.

Cleaning it takes a lot of time. Hahaha

Such a fun gun to own and shoot.

Took the savage 110 High country in 6.5 CM today to the range. .55 inch 5 shot grouping at 100yds in a strong cross wind today. For a factory rifle, it sure is tack driver with factory ammo. I have to imagine it will be better with hand loads.
I really like the machining of the spiral fluting barrel and bolt.

bottom pic is Savage 110 HC in 6.5CM, savage B mag in 17WSM, Seekings Precision in 224 Valkyrie, and Aero Precision 223 Wylde.

Any of ya’ll familiar with The Cardinal Center in Marengo, OH?

The hubby & I are taking an extended weekend to see (spectate) at the Race Gun Nationals in late August. Race Gun Nationals are where - the best of the best - compete in Level III USPSA competitions.

Just trying to get the ‘lay of the land’….. and/or any suggestions for anyone who’s been there. And even better, if anyone’s been there during the USPSA national events.

Hi all, just found this thread. I have steel out to 275 yds here on the farm. AR's in 5.56, 9mm, 450 Bushmaster, 50 Beowulf , 6.5 Grendel, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6ARC, 300BO. 308/7.62
Cans in 5.56, 9mm, 30cal 22lr
SIG 365 is the daily carry most of the time. Kimber Ultra Cary the rest of the time.
Worked in a gunshop for several years so I got good deals on a lot of interesting guns.
Shot USPSA for several years.
My favorite is my Bergra in 300 Win mag cuz it hits the mile target repeatedly out in the AZ desert every fall. We have a place on BLM land where we can get 2 miles. I don't have any guns that do that far but I have friends that do. The AB suppressors little bird does a great job on 22lr.

I was more wondering what he zeroed at to hit a mile. I’ve been out to just over 1100m and had to hold 4.5 mils high when zeroed at 100m. That was with .308BT on a 10x and holding for a body shot. Not precision by any means but it hit.
