Almost had my 3 year old in the back seat do this to my wife. I just happened to be standing at the rear door as he was pulling it closed and saw her hand there. Stopped him just in time. The wife doesn't use the b-pillar for a hand hold any more. Lol

For that matter, never touch any pillar while a door is open. You can crush your hands on a, b, c, and d pillars if you're not paying attention.

As someone who has been in the situation as the "door closer", it's quite confusing. All the sudden someone is yelling and you have no idea why. It's been about 10 years, but I still hear my brother yelling, "Open the door! Open the door! Open the door!" and I still feel bad about it even though there was no permanent physical damage.

I did that to a 2 year old once. Closed the side door of a Silverado on his arm, didn't know what was going on(i was 17), Kid grew up to be a pitcher. So yeah.
