I posted this last year like you I had the same need.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I came up with a solution until something better comes up. I had a pistol lockbox lying around so I mounted it under the rear seat on the driver’s side using the bolts holding down plastic OEM storage box, so no modifications to the Jeep at all, and if I need to lock up my pistol I will be able too.

You mean that Jeep did not intend
for the upper compartment in the center console
to be for pistols?

I separated my key from my key fob
so I could lock the center console
and leave the Nacho Libre for service
or valet parking.

Sadly, the diminutive Kel-Tec PF9
is the only 9mm or above
which I own that will fit in the tray.

It's my "Green New Deal".

Being that this thread was revived, FYI, a Walther PDP 4 inch and 3-inch Colt Python individually do in fact fit inside the Tuffy center console safe

Did your Glad come with a locking center console?
I’ve always loved the Console Vault - I’ve had a couple over the years. But since the 24‘ has a locking center console, I don’t think I need a vault anymore (for the extremely rare occasion that I’d need to use it ).

My (2021) center console is lockable but not acknowledged by NYS as an adequate safeguard for my firearm when it needs to be secured in the car.

I like the Tuffy because valet/whoever has my fob can't access it

May not be NYS adequate
but for the rest of us
separate the key from the fob
and put the key on a key ring.

I compared my factory bolts at the hardware store and got ones a little longer but I’d say M6x1.0 20 or 25 would work

Mine is in a Vaultek wired to the seat hardware behind the back seat. I lock the seat back and any thief will have to get through the seat then through the wire then through the actual box.

That honestly sounds like the best option. I was wanting to bolt something down back there but the child tether loop should be sufficient. Really wished Jeep would have made the entire seat lock.

The little tray behind the back driver’s side seat holds it upright perfectly. I’ve got a first aid kit beside it so it’s stays put. It will hold a full size pistol and a couple of standard capacity mags (depending).

I actually considered somehow bolting the safe to the back of the seat so when you fold it down which you would have to do anyways to secure the pistol, it would just be sitting as if on a table to easily take in and out. Just wasn't sure about pulling the back fabric apart.
