That’s a major issue, and no, that should be taken into the dealership for warranty. How many miles does it have on it and how long did you go without changing it? Usually it doesn’t burn oil like that if the oil doesn’t get changed regularly.

It has 36,200 miles on it. I changed it in august at 32,000 miles. I haven’t driven it much. Maybe I should have changed it even tho I haven’t put that many miles on it

Definitely excessive for a motor that's only about a year old

There in lies your problem, unfortunately since it wasn’t changed regularly it will always burn oil like that now.

Burning oil is not the byproduct of non-use.

Its the byproduct of excessive wear in the piston rings, valve guide seals or PCV issues.

Are you saying that he needed to change it more frequently than the 4,200 miles/7 months he's got on it? Because neither of those are to the point where they would cause engine damage...

No, I’m saying if he didn’t change it until 30,000+ miles which makes sense why it would be burning an excess amount of oil. He said he changed it at 30,000+ miles in August, so if it hadn’t been changed until they point then yeah, that’s why it’s burning that much oil. Maybe if it was used when he got it previous owner didn’t change the oil like he should have.

Except you don't know how many times he's changed the oil in those 32000 miles.

Exactly but it stands to reason if it wasn’t changed regularly that’s why it’s burning oil like that, otherwise it wouldn’t be.

I don't think he ever said that he never changed his oil. He only told us the last time he changed it. Stands to reason he did other oil changes in that 30k.

Hasn’t said if he bought it used or has changed it regularly either

I think the point the other members are trying to state is, you're assuming he never replaced the oil in the last 32,000 miles.

The OP said his last oil change was done at 32,000

But if it was used and the owner prior to him didn’t change the oil regularly, stands to reason why it would be burning oil like that, never heard of any engine burning excess oil like that unless it wasn’t maintenanced regularly.
