I have attached a video. Sorry it's a bit long. You can clearly see the ESS is activated. The Jeep is running, in neutral and the parking brake is applied. It stayed that way until I tapped the clutch. So based on the responses I've gotten thus far this should not actually be happening. Am I correct in saying that? Before I try remedying the situation or contacting the dealer. I thought I'd get your feedback and or ideas.

ESS is triggered by pressing the brake pedal. (unless that's different with a stick........)

When ESS is active - meaning an ESS stop event, you have a symbol on the cluster showing that it's stopped by ESS.
You will see this in GREEN right in the cluster -

ESS won't start up when you exit the vehicle unless you have an issue with the seat belts and so on.

I would think that the E brake should prevent an ess event, so should the seatbelt. I guess if you had work done to the brake that could explain that reason, but the seatbelt or the door switch would prevent an ess event.

I think something else is going on. If you can duplicate the issue, it should be easy to resolve.
I don't know about the manual, but automatic relies in the brake pedal being pressed hard enough, otherwise it won't engage.
I know the manual has to be in neutral, clutch fully released - but what about brake pedal?

If that green A symbol is lit up, it's not ESS stop event.

Also find this - occupant sensing. If there's no occupant, it won't stop - occupant sense must = true for ESS to stop the engine. It doesn't want the engine to stop, and then start up again, without an occupant. Too dangerous.

ESS will not stop the engine if the cabin temp isn't within a specific range of the temperature you have it set at, also - if the engine does stop, it will start again if the temperature is outside of that range.
On a cold day, if the ESS stopped the engine but the cabin cools down too much, it will start the engine again. On a hot day, if it stopped the engine but the cabin temp rises too far above your set temperature, it will start the engine again. So ESS won't stop if the cabin temp isn't where you set it to be, and will restart it if the cabin temperature is too far off from your setting, heating or cooling.

Video link isn't working Tony. I don't have access to my MT Gladiator for a while, but from what I remember with the ESS and manual I would shift to neutral and come to a stop with clutch out and brake applied. Once completely stopped and brake applied the ESS would kick in and engine would stop, then upon depressing the clutch (to shift into gear) the engine would restart.

I've never driven somewhere and gotten out with vehicle running in neutral and p-brake on..then come back to find ESS had activated and the engine stopped. I'm interested to see the video you have.

I will note that I installed the Tazer within the first week of owning and never use ESS. It automatically deactivates each time I push to start. Keeps things simpler for me and I don't have to worry about my vehicle "auto-start-stopping" ever.
