The industry consensus on high mileage is 75,000 miles. This is a collection of links on this topic, including an article published by Valvoline and a number of high-mileage motor oil options for the 3.6L gasoline engine.

Each of the following options meets or exceeds manufacturer specifications for the 3.6L gasoline engine
AMSOIL High Mileage 100% Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 0W-20
This is the high-mileage counterpart to AMSOIL OE, listed in my post on Links to Prices; although the front label does not display the API starburst mark, it is described as "API Licensed" on the AMSOIL website and meets manufacturer specifications; also see PDS
Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 0W-20
This is the high-mileage counterpart to writer's pick in my post on Links to Prices
- When used within OEM limits, this is the only high-mileage motor oil product on this list that has no caveats/gotchas
Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 0W-20
This is the high-mileage counterpart to dealer's choice in my post on Links to Prices; the warranty does not cover Severe Duty
There is no high-mileage counterpart to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 0W-20; the exclusive usage warranty on this motor oil is "for the lifetime of your vehicle" (conditions apply, of course); the warranty does not cover Severe Duty
There is no high-mileage counterpart to RED LINE SYNTHETIC OIL Professional-Series Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 0W-20; "For high and low-mileage engines" (see Product Details); "...factory drain intervals"; meets manufacturer specifications; also see PDS; the warranty is implied-only (product-replacement or money-back)
Note: RED LINE has an excellent reputation among racing & high-performance vehicle enthusiasts
As of March 2026, MS-6395 is not listed on the label of either of the following Valvoline high-mileage motor oil products. The link to each product has been removed and the product name has been crossed out:
Valvoline Extended Protection High Mileage Premium Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 0W-20
This is the high-mileage counterpart to Valvoline EP, listed in my post on Links to Prices; this motor oil is positioned above Valvoline High Mileage Full Synthetic, shown below
Valvoline High Mileage Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 0W-20
This is the high-mileage counterpart to Valvoline Advanced, listed in my post on Links to Prices

- See post #s 11, 12, 15, 17, & 19 (a sub-thread) for discussion of "seal sweller"; these five posts are a potato-potaato discussion, but post #12 notably mentions that the (GM) dexos 1 standard includes rigorous seal testing
- Also note that none of the high mileage options shown in the next section meet GM dexos 1 Gen 3 (irrelevant to Jeep manufacturer specifications, but relevant to seal conditioning); a higher concentration of seal conditioning additives, in a high mileage motor oil, may cause the oil not to meet dexos 1
- AMSOIL states that its High Mileage SAE 0W-20 (HM020QT-EA, counterpart to OEZQT-EA) complies with API SP, MS-6395, and GM dexos 1 Gen 3, but this AMSOIL high-mileage motor oil is not API Licensed
