I need a rear recovery point and noticed I don't have a hitch receiver. Will most Class 3 work just fine say from Curtis/Reese and still work with most rear bumpers later on? No intentions of ever towing anything, just curious how these trucks come setup. Thx

i did a curt class 3 hitch install on my last gladiator. I can't speak to whether it's guaranteed to work with a potential future bumper (i can tall you any rear bumper mnfr who doesn't consider a hitch receiver is a bad mnfr).

But what I can tell you is, skip the step where it asks you to drill a hole in your bumper. The plastic rear bumper is SUPER easy to take off and put back on. Just take the bumper off, install the curt receiver, and put the bumper back on. No bulging at all. No evidence on the bumper anything is underneath it. Drilling is terrible installation instructions as far as I'm concerned.

Few things you should know going in:
1. Correct torque for the hitch receiver's main bolt is 320ftlbs. I don't personally own a torque wrench that goes that high. I torque to 250ftlb, then gave it the old elbow grease with a breaker bar beyond that.
2. You'll need a half inch hex head socket (think really big allen wrench) to install. In local stores by me these only come in sets. If you need one, jsut order a single one at the time you order the receiver.

If I recall correctly, the Curt or Draw-Tire are about $150 on etrailer.

The OEM Mopar hitch, which is the same one that comes from the factory, is about $225.

I don't know if that matters to you, but choices are always good.

We've currently got the Curt class 3 hitches in stock at $141.68:
https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/...acturing-class-3-trailer-hitch-w-2in-receiver

FYI- If you ever do need to tow, the Curt receivers are rated to 5,000lbs.

Most aftermarket rear bumpers are designed to work with a factory style hitch.

We do currently have a few of the LoD black rear bumpers in stock and they will work with a factory style hitch:

Here is our install video on that bumper:

Just an fyi ... the LOD Destroyer rear bumper will work with the factory integrated hitch that comes with the "tow package" but will not work with the add-on Curtis or other bolt-on receivers. The bumper won't fit around the top plate on the add-ons.

The bumper, especially with the side slides is fantastic. I have that bumper and would definitely recommend it. I have tried to add a hitch.. not possible without cutting the underside of the LOD bumper to fit.

Ordering a full frame mounted hitch is likely the solution .... Mopar part: 82215648.

You have one or two hooks in the bumper that attach to the frame. If using the hitch receiver for recovery, it should be a Class IV frame mounted unit. The truck will come with one, if the Tow Package is ordered. Otherwise, get the Mopar receiver and have it installed.

There is a JT I see at my son’s school, it has an aftermarket hitch on it, hangs down below the bumper a little for the entire cross bar, I don’t like the look compare to oem, oem looks much cleaner.

I am no expert. But the times I've pulled people out using other vehicles, I've stuck the loop of the recovery strap up into the receiver and put the drawbar pin through the loop.

Then it can't come undone and fly somewhere.

Yep, what Jeep1 said above ^

To clarify our post, when we say that most aftermarket bumpers are designed to work with factory style hitches, we specifically mean like the Mopar #82215648:
