Hood Dent and Paint crack

Long story short I caused my hood to get dented and it cracked the paint on my bilet silver rubicon. A dent specialist said I need to replace my hood. Should I get OEM replacement or let a body shop try to fix it? Also any ideas what a new painted hood would cost?

Yes make sure your hood is latched.

Oh dang; so the suggestion for a hood replacement was for a less expensive alternative to the labor cost.

I thought those 2 plastic push-pin things were there to provide some warning on the dash, are they not? Hope nobody was injured.

Do yourself a favor and replace with a steel or fiberglass one. Body shops and dealerships do not know how to prep the aluminum and you will keep on having paint issues on that panel. Ask me how I know!

Search for companies that do engine swaps or shop all the regular places people take rubicon, Mojave or standard hoods off d roses for others friending on color it would be a cheap option. Export Jeeps and Mojave are the only steel hoods, though I suspect 392 Wrangler is steel also.

There are a lot of Rubicon grey hoods out there for sale , not sure what your color was , lot on the bay place also…Jack

I had a Ram 1500 that had an aluminum hood. A small limb fell off the 75 foot tall oak tree next to my driveway, and it dented the hood. Local shop said it would be cheaper to replace the aluminum hood with a new one than fix the dented one. I was happy when I found out the Mojave has a steel hood.

I wonder if there was a change, I was comparing some stuff on a friends 21 and he had a steel hood. I was testing my hood to see if there was any steel to test a mount on.

Dunno. I had to cut into mine to install the snorkel... that's how I know for sure.
