my brother woke up one morning with his hood gone missing overnight. This was in Chi. The rubicon power dome hood was just released and it became a hot ticket item very quickly. Think about it, its like 4 bolts and away you go.

No. It does not.

However, if you have a TazerJL running the latest firmware, and the TazerJL is connected to your vehicle, it will trigger the panic function if it detects the hood being opened when the alarm is set.

I had the tailgate stolen off my new F-350 so yeah it’s a thing.

The kicker was that it was at the dealer’s at the time and they refused to own up to it...

To make a very long story short it cost $4K to replace it....

I saw a YouTube video last night where a guy locked his Gladiator then opened the hood. The alarm didn’t go off. Then he gave the key to someone standing about 20’ away and went back, opened the hood, and the alarm sounded. So it may be a key proximity thing, but looks like the alarm does indeed sound.

What video was that? I want to say that this is pretty well documented - I haven’t seen conclusive proof that the alarm goes off when the hood is opened. That includes the JL.
Unless, of course, you have a TazerJL, which automatically enables that as a feature when it is plugged in.

They probably backed into it and screwed it up, took it off and threw it in the scrap bin. Then you get to file on your insurance and they get to sell a tailgate at 100% mark up.

I installed these today and they are shit. Tried to open it like my 6 yr old grandkid would do and they popped open real easy...just a soft metal latch that bends easy. Astra depot on Amazon..was 50 bucks plus tax Canadian. Piece of shit. Stay away.

Anybody know of anything more sturdy/thiefproof??

I installed these today.

Are they sturdy, or just pop open like the ones I posted about today with a little pressure. I wanted mine to lock, but just pulled on them a little bit and the soft metal latch bent and popped open.
