I've got two 14ft kayaks and have a KB Voodoo 22" high bed rack picked out as a future purchase. The 22" height should allow half the kayaks to hang over the cab without touching or scraping and it's also compatible with my stock tonneau cover.

What kind of kayaks are you going to be haulding. I move around my Hobie compass, Tarpon 140 or paddle board in my truck but usually just one at a time. Other wise I just angle 2 side by side and strap them in the bed using a hitch bed extender something like earlier post. I've hauled them all over south Texas and South Louisiana with not problem. Just unstrap and slip out at landing.

I use the Boondox T-Bone Bed Extender. Easily hauls 2 yaks in the bed. Sorry no pics, but it's pretty simple...secures into the trailer hitch and supports the yaks approximately 2' beyond the dropped tailgate.

I carry a 12' Hobie Compass and the wife has a 10' Hobie Passport. As they both have the mirage drive, I put them both in the back of the truck and put a strap in the middle where the mirage drive goes. No picture, but if we go out this weekend I'll try and snap one.

Just a Little FYI be careful running straps through that section. Had a discussion with Hobie and they advise not to run straps for securing through this section. Has to do with cracking drive seats, etc. I know we don't have a lot of options unfortunatly with this yak.

I just strap them in the bed. I loop a ratchet strap through the handles on either side and hook into the bed tie-downs. I use one strap per kayak, then usually just thread a rope through them in case something breaks. If I break out the 13.5' I use a bar similar to the ones posted above. I see it on Amazon now (MaxxHaul-70231-Extender-Ladder-Lumber) but I think I bought it somewhere else, maybe e-trailer?

I have 4 sit on tops from 9.5' to 13.5' and at some point in the future I plan on just stacking all of them on top of one another in the bed.

I was contemplating a kayak trailer but they seem over priced around me.

Good to know. I don't strap it in that tight. I also put another strap towards the back over the rear. But I'll be sure to leave even more slack in the front, it's just very handy to keep in the truck.

I don't have yaks yet... but I am in the market for them. My plan is to build a couple of short, padded 2x4 a-frames that I can sit on top of my RTT/hardtop, put the yaks on top of them and then strap it all down to my rack.

I don't have any good pictures of my setup... but I'm thinking one A-frame on the back of the RTT and then one on the back of the hardtop will be fine.

The 22" ALUMAX with the tonneau brackets will stand 24.5" tall and will clear you cab!

I do same thing I just run a loose strap through if I know I am not going to be stopping for long period. If I know I am going to be away from the truck and the yak for awhile I run my bolt cable through it for security and strap it down more snug on the rear
